Jhe Kurd oj? j£)irectord THE WELFARE of the students of A M College rests in the hands of members of the Board of Directors, whose actions have indicated that they have this responsibility fore¬ most in their minds. The rapid growth of the student body has brought about many problems since the end of the war, and the Board has met this growth with expansion of college facilities and has solved all accompanying problems to the best interest of the students. The members of the Board are appointed by the Governor for six year terms. They are: G. R. White, Brady, President; H. L. Kokernot, Jr., Alpine, Vice President; Major General H. J. Brees, San Antonio; Lt. Colonel D. S. Buchanan, Corpus Christi; E. W. Harrison, South Bend; Rufus R. Peeples, Tehuacana; John W. Newton, Beaumont; Roy C. Potts, Belton; Henry Reese III, Gonzales. 23

THE PRESIDENT ' S WORD f revident (djilh (jilcbridt Twice within a generation our nation has been called upon to combat forces which, if victorious, would have destroyed the ideals on which our form of government was founded. Twice our nation has been the deciding factor in these conflicts by the unstinted sacrifice of our citizens, by the use of our mechanical ingenuity and productive capacities, and above all, by the desire to preserve the American way of life. The sons of A. 6c M. have played their part gloriously in these conflicts and if the victory that was won at such a great price is to be preserved, they must play their part in the world of today and tomorrow just as gloriously in a leadership which will make such conflicts unnecessary. I know that the members of the Senior Class of 1947 realize the problems we all face if our hopes for the future are to be achieved. My wish for the members of this class is that each will dedicate his every effort to the achievement of peace with the hope that the era which we now face may be the greatest in human advancement and happiness that the world has ever known. Sincerely yours,
”
