Today as the men of this nation and those of her allies are returning from the most devastating war ever waged iT M is again returning to her post as one of the nation ' s best schools. Returning Aggies notice many changes in the old Aggieland they knew for the war alters everything. We who have been here through the war have struggled hard to keep the old traditions alive in spite of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Many times have we played Silver Taps mentally for our buddies who gave their lives. It is with a heavy heart that we realize many an Aggie will never return to his beloved Aggieland. The LONGHORN staff has tried to capture in this book a part of Aggieland to be taken with you wherever you may go. It is our wish that it may bring you many enjoyable hours. I wish to express my gratitude to the Senior class for electing me the Editor of this annual, an honor I shall always cherish, and to my splendid staff for their untiring efforts. R. B. MacCALLUM 8
