President ' s Plessage THE DAY of your departure from this institution, which for four years has been your home, rapidly approaches. To those of us who remain here on the Campus of the College, your leave-taking is recognized as the natural consummation of your plan and purpose. It, therefore, is contemplated in the scheme of things, but nevertheless we anticipate that day with sincere regret. The world into which you emerge may not hold the same measure of reward for your services, or kindly indulgence of your foibles and weaknesses which has characterized your collegiate world for these four years. By and large, however, how it receives you will depend greatly upon you, yourselves. A large measure of fortune, good or ill, enters into the experience of every man and determines to a considerable degree whether his achieve¬ ments are great or small. Undeniably, however, his sin¬ cerity of purpose, his unfaltering integrity, his generous loyalty to friends, his attitude of fairness to competitor and opponent, and his unrelenting driving effort, fix for him his horizon of accomplishments. His philosophy of life will determine whether his days shall be happy days and his nights without blemish. As you go forth from these grounds and halls, we breathe for you a prayer — a prayer that you will fulfil to the utmost of your capacity, your personal destiny, and that you shall find great satisfaction in the living of your life. If these two things you do, and likewise, add a lot of cheer and encouragement, a little helpfulness to those with whom you journey down life ' s way, the Agri¬ cultural and Mechanical College of Texas will have en¬ tirely justified its being. President.
