Rosey Grier lectured on unity in 80's On Monday Feb. 11th Rosey Grier, actor, former football player, and aid to Senator Bobby Kennedy, lectured to ap- proximately 700 students on Unity in the 80's. Crier announced his support of boycotting the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He said Many people say the boycott is wrong because politics should not be a part of the Olympics, but the truth is that politics are very much a part of the games. Another statement of support from Grier was that he is backing President Carter in the 1980 Presidential election. He commented that it was a difficult decision since the Kennedy family was close friends to him while he served as an aid to the late Sen. Bobby Kennedy during his 1968 presidential cam- paign. He said, I love Teddy Kennedy, but I have a conviction that I must stand behind the President fCarterJ during these difficult times. We need unity in the countlyf' After his lecture, Rosey Grier made time to listen to ques- tions asked by students. One girl, from Arkansas High School in Texarkana asked if she could give him a knitted cap, compli- ments of their school, and he said of course, and wore it during further intewiews.
