Graduation was a time of mixed emotions Graduation was greeted with varied emotions, ranging from the serious to the exhaltant, for the 68 students who received their diplomas from Dr. Carl M. Nelson, President of Texarkana Community College, in graduation exercises on May 21, 1979 in the TCC Auditorium. The greetings of graduates and guests was given by Dr. Nelson and was followed by an address from the guest speaker, Dr. Walter C. Barnes, President ofthe Texarkana Community College Board of Regents. Dr. Barnes stated that the graduates had a committment to their careers to be productive workers, to their communities to support and improve them and to their own religion. The two high honor graduates were Mary jean Overing CBusinessJ and Cynthia Rhnea Richert tArtsJ. Degrees were conferred in the following subject areas: Nursing, Arts, Business, Science, Mid-Management, Fire Technology, Secretarial Science, Police Technology, Auto Mechanic CCert.J, Data Processing, and Printing. A reception in honor of the graduates was held im- mediately following graduation in the foyer of the TCC Auditorium. ! S ,.
