Make me a child again just for tonight. Have you ever heard this expression? We don't want to go back to our childhood, but we do WHITE to go back four years in our lives to the day we entered T.H.S. as bright- eyed eager freshmen. September 1953! On this eventful day, we met Mrs. Basile and Miss Murray, our class advisors, who gave us the moral support we needed. Our first big event was the election of class of- ficers. Our president was Robert Allen, vice-presi- dent, Richard Carey, secretary, Frances Basileg treasurer and student council representative, Marie Sullivan. Chosen to represent our class on the cheering squad was Marie Sullivan. During this year Nancy Tenello, Dorothy Lacey, and Ronald James were added to our class. In November we held our first dance, The Fiesta Frolic, and fun was had by all. Now we felt a little more important. At the senior dance, Gerald Trull and Mary Jane Farley reigned as Freshman King and Queen. Having survived football season, basketball sea- son, and final exams, we set out to enjoy our sum- mer vacation. September 1954! Well-tanned and rested we re- turned as Sophomores with high spirits. First on the agenda was the election of class of- ficers. Robert Allen was presidentg Philip DeCarolis, vice-president, Beverly Ebinger, secretaryg Mary Jane Farley, treasurer. Marie Sullivan and Beverly Ebinger were ouf foot- ball cheerleaders, and Marie Sullivan continued to cheer for the basketball teams. Anne Pozzi, Richard Carroll, Thomas Burris, Marie Clarke, Carol Martell, Daniel McLaughlin, Virginia Pennelli, and Shirley Stone were added to our list of classmates. The dance we held this year was called the Hobo's Hop. Everyone dressed to suit the oc- casion and a grand time was had. The rest of the year just flew right by as we kept up with the school's activities, September 1955! Enthusiastic about being jun- iors and hoping to survive to be seniors we were eager to return. We started the year off as usual with the election of class officers. The same officers presided and worked for the benefit of the class. The junior trio who served on student council was Robert Allen, Mary Jane Farley, and Philip Decgrolig, Our first dance of the year was the Fall Spin. We also had a dancd in February which was called the Sweetheart Hop. Marie Sullivan, Judith Ebinger, and Beverly Ebinger represented our class as football cheerleaders. We welcomed as new classmates Charles Costa, Anne Kennedy, Connie Marsh, and Diane Wilkinson. The girl's basketball team won the Suburban Championship this year. Marie Sullivan and Sally Curtis helped to cheer them on to victory. This year marked the first year Tewksburg High School sent representatives into the Lowell-Lawrence All Star Game. Selected to represent our school were Sally Curtis and Judith Ebinger, members of our class. Our last dance was the Farewell Fancy which was given in honor of the departing seniors. Robert Silk and Jackie Jordan reigned as King and Queen. September 19561 The year we had been waiting for had finally arrived. We were seniors at lastl Elected to lead our class as capably and efficiently as ever were the following: Robert Allen, president, Philip DeCarolis, vice-president, Beverly Ebinger, secretaryg Mary Jane Farley, treasurer. Among the new teachers seen at T.H.S. were Mrs. Crosley, Mrs. Atwater, and Mr. Griffen. The latest addition was Mr. Previte who took over when Mr. Leiter left. Representing our class in student council were Robert Allen, Philip DeCarolis, Thomas Burris, Mary Jane Farley, and Beverly Ebinger. We took into our fold two new classmates, John Sears, and Prudence Smith. Our first dance was the Kick-Off. It was a huge success as that afternoon we had won our first football game of the season. Our football team, led by co -captains, Robert Allen and Gerald Trull, captured the Suburban Foot- ball Championship. Were we ever proud of them. Cheering the champions on were Sally Curtis, Mary Ann D'Entremont, Beverly Ebinger, Captain, and Marie Sullivan. To swell the treasury a couple members of our class sold coke, candy, and chips at all our home games. This was greatly appreciated by all the other members of the class. Our class held the annual Christmas Dance, The Holly Hop. Everyone attended dressed in their finest and a grand time was had by all. We were pleased to have Patricia Leahy and Robert Allen as captains of our basketball teams, and as cheerleaders Mary Ann D'Entremont and Sally Curtis, Captain. A dance was held in April in honor of the Fresh- man. lt was enjoyable as all the others even though we were all down with spring fever. Final exams finally were over and we were to graduate. Senior week started, first our Prom, May 31 at the Haverhill Country Club. June 3 was the Class Banquet held at the Ivy Room and June 5 was the Class Trip to Nantasket. June 7 was Graduation, our final event at Tewksburg High School. Here ends our glance, but it is a happy memory we will have always. S 38 Class Future As I slip through my old scrapbook, I can see by its yellowed and frayed pages that it's been almost thirty years since Graduation Night. That night when Bobby Allen forgot his fare- well speech and groped for words. Many of my former classmates have become well-known authors. Berry Trull and Edmund Babicz have just had published, The Key to Curly Hair . Mary Penney, Marie Clarke, Cathy Martell and Diane Wilkenson collaborated on the textbook Business Love Can be Fun . Noted psychologists Marie Sullivan, Mary Ann D'Entremont and Cynthia White have now sold over a million copies of their latest publication Does Your Child Hate School? On the local scene Sally Curtis and Judy Ebinger are both conducting classes on the Tewks- bury Police Department on Billy Club Twirling. Walter Thompson has become chief stamp licker for the Tewksbury bank owned by Linda Read. A newly opened hotel is being admirably run by Ellen Hibbard, Nancy Aspell, Dorothy Lacey Donna Leddy, Patricia Pappas and Mary Leddy. It's called the Quiet Woman Inn. Scattered around the world are Tom Burris now Admiral of his own fleet of tugboats, Carol Martell in Hollywood, she is head waitress in The Best Pizza Place in Town owned by Charlie Costa, Phil Decarolis, Dick Grenno and Ann Pozzi. Head meatball maker is Nancy Tonello. Frank Daley now in India, is in the process of selecting his thirty-seventh harem girl. Before leaving our beloved Tewksbury he took time to initiate a new Fraternity. The charter members are Dick Carey, Frank Colontunio, Dick O'Neil, Fred Gath, Richard Gath, Herb Roberts and William Tuohy. They call themselves The Beligerent Bachelors of America . In New York City this year some familiar names appear on the list of entries for the talking marathon. They are Dorothy Lombardi, Virginia Pennelli, Shirley Stone, Lillian Bell, Fran Basile, Theresa Manning and Connie Marsh. Good luck girls, and may the best mouth win. Doing government work now are Mary Jane Farley and Bev Ebinger. They are the only women in the United States Mint. Recently I read that Louie Lavallee, Ronald James, Roy Pennock and John Sears have grad- uated from the secondary school they decided to attend. Alcatraz, I believe. At home again, Regina Cooper, Pat Hickey, Nancy Smith, Helen Caster and Prudence Smith now head the Tewksbury Youth Center. One of their services is a lonely hearts club for girls less fortunate than themselves. Also giving her time is Pat Leahy who has revolutionized base- ball with her new square ball for square athletes. Richard Avery is conducting a Physical Ed- ucation Class for building bigger bodies. Conducting classes for elocution and English grammar are Mary Jane Donahue and Ann Kennedy, respectively. Our youth center certainly does leave little to be desired says superintendent of schools, I ack Gillis. The architect for the building was Dan Mclaughlin, and the interior decoration was done by Delores Dixon, Judy Gale and Judy Scott. Yes, the students of the class of 5'7 have gone far with the help of a little imagination and a lot of help from God. Let us hope that He will continue lending the needed helping hand. 39 Senior Class Officers IW President ......... . . . Robert Allen Vice-President . . . . . Philip Decarolis Treasurer ..... . .
