-1...-I LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Kolakoski, Mr. Malley, Mr. Jay, Rev. Mihalek and Mr. Tompkins. . . Hyde gayff . On May 19, 1958, the Terryville High School athletic field was officially named 'joe Jay Field. Both students and townspeople attended the dedication program held on the Field made by the boys on the 1958 Baseball Team. A plaque naming the Held was presented to the guest of honor by Julian Wojtusik, the 1957-58 president of the Athletic Association, while members of the cheerleading squad and the baseball team formed a guard of honor. The Joe Jay Field is a tribute to Mr. Jay, a science teacher in our school, who had served as baseball and basketball coach for more than twenty years, resigning in 1955. A guest speaker said that Mr. Jay after teaching five classes a day would spend several hours in coaching his boys. Transportation to all of the games was Mr. Jay's responsibility, also. Today, Mr. Jay's proteges are widely known as good sportsmen and proficient ath- letes. May these qualities serve as the ideals of the boys who will use the njoe Jay Field. 67
