Nothing better characterizes the team than Mr. Zakrewski's words at the assembly preceding the first game. He said, uThese boys are green but with their desire to fight and win 4 well, you never can tell. Tcrryville fans certainly could tell! After their first game against arch-rival Thomaston, thc boys were known as a scrappy crew who would bring home its share of victories. Terryville followers will always remember M LEFTY KOVALESKI as the play-maker and superb ball-handler, HLEO' NIACKIEYVICZ for his jump shots and style of rebounding, 'LRAYN KONOPASKE as the boy who pushed Terry- ville's victory over St. Anthony's in the tournament game, HHERBIER NORTON for being a big fac- tor in Terryville's win over Thomaston, UJACK7, PERKINS for his seemingly impossible side shots and valuable rebounds, JACK BERTNAGEL who will be a real threat against any team next year, 'JOHNNY' FETZKO as one of the most improved players on the team, DICK, HOFF- MAN as a little man with a lot of hustle, RAY MANAREL for his fine shooting-percentage, and UJOE' STEPHANSKI as the jayvec who gained a worthy berth on the varsity team --A OUR TEAM. Both Mr. Zakrewski, whom the boys thought of as their second father, and the gym, which was their second home, did much to make the team what it was.
