MEMORIES On September 5 1951 at the old Terryvulle Hugh School 74 students enrolled as members of the Class of 1955 Despute our unutual shyness we were soon playung the role of T H S Freshmen On October 19 we were the guests of the Sophomore class at the tradutuonal Freshman Sophomore Receptuon Through the wunter months we helped our basketball team on to vuctory and supported the newly organuzed Pep Club Although our Freshman year was mostly orderly and quuet an occasuonal staccato note was heard especually at class meetungs When September rolled around agaun we entered our new upto date school The new school effected many notuceable changes We were offered new courses of study and many extra currucular actuvutues for both gurls and boys We had a gymnasuum a spacuous gym of whuch we are very proud On October 24 we were the hosts at the Freshman Sophomore Receptuon held un our new lubrary Accordung to custom un the sprung of our Sophomore Year we chose the desugn for our class rungs and looked forward to receuvung them the followung September Our Sophomore year passed rapudly and smoothly September came and we were upperclassmen On the 30th of September we re ceuved our class rungs For us the buggest socual event of the year was our Junuor Prom whuch was held on November 13 un our gymnasuum Happy that our f1rst formal dance was a success we entered unto the spurut of the basketball season hopung that our team would wun the Housatonuc Valley League Champnonshup but not antucupatung that the crownung event of our Junuor Year would occur at the Unuversuty of Connectucut on March 3 On that memorable date Terryvulle Hugh Schools basketball team became the Class C Champs of Connectucut Durung that same eventful year on May 26 our class wuth Mr Blum uourneyed to New York We vusuted the Hayden Planetaruum and the Museum of Natural Hustory We completed the enuoyable day wuth a party at Mr Blums home On June 7 we made a short trup to Brustol to see the General Motors Exhubut Three days later we returned to New York thus tume wuth Mr Zalasku to see the Unuted Natuons Buuldung and the Bronx Zoo We agaun had a very enuoyable day 1953 1954 seemed to be a year for champuonshups for on June 15 we earned the tutle of Champs un baseball June 22 ended our thurd year at T H S a year whuch was full of fun and new experuences Thus was also the day on whuch we became senuors When we returned to T H S on September 8 1954 most of us dud not have the usual back to school feelung In uts place there was an awareness that we should make the most of the last of the best years of our luves Consequently the year started wuth a more amuable harmony among our classmates Undenuably we had changed sunce our f1rst year we were no lonqer shy and quuet but bold and nousy At tumes our enthusuasm brought forth duscordant notes but ut never dumunushed O September 20 our yearbook staff started theur work wuth much enthusuasm and many new udeas Two days later our class was duvuded unto two teams for the annual Magazune Campaugn Wuthun two weeks our class had broken the hugh school record wuth sales amountung to S3 421 On October 28 the wunnung team was entertauned by the losunq team at a dance held un our qym strukungly decorated wuth magazune covers In December senuor puctures arruved from the photographer and the senuor sectuon of our yearbook was sent to the publusher On December 22 we untroduced a new dance to T H S a Soc Hop After our Chrustmas vacatuon our senuor play wos the center of our attentuon Our play havuna been presented successfully we con centrated on our Senuor Prom whuch was held un the sprung Followung our prom the Class of 55 after much study oroudlv took over the tasks of the town offlcuals for a day We approached the end of our Senuor year wuth cu feelmg of accomplushment for we had guven somethung to T H S as well as T H S guvung somethung to us 30 I I ' - 1 1 , .
