Terry Parker High School was largely made possible by the generous donation by Mr. H. Terry Parker of the land upon which it is built. Because of this generous gift and his sincere interest in our student body, we dedicate to him our first yearbook. The Chieftain of 1957. to us. In the following message, Mr. Parker gives his reasons for his generosity l My first school days contained many hardships, not the least of which was walking four miles to school and four miles back home. For this reason, my ambition has been to make life as pleasant as possible for all the young people. Doing for young people and the love for them have given me great pleasure, comfort, and joy, with the nearest thing to satisfaction that I have ever experienced. After I had attended a joint meeting of the Arlington Parent Teachers Association and Dad's Club, in which the great and urgent need for a high school in the Arlington section was shown, it was revealed to me that unselfishness, love, consideration for others, and God's blessings on me dictated that I make the gift to the school for the betterment of young people. Just as it is harder to swim upstream than downstream, we must work to have the better things in life, of which education is one of the most important. Through our efforts and the help of others, we can accomplish many worthy things. I have been afforded many pleasant and happy days because of my realization of the importance of consideration for others. So the donation was my pleasure, through the help of God, and assures me that ''It is more blessed to give than to receive.'' H. Terry Parker °9»
