Outstanding Students Honored At Awards Assembly Hold that pose. Mr. Leininger, annual advisor, was taking pictures of students receiving awards during the Awards Assembly on May 16. As the assembly progressed, Miss Miller awarded the cheerleading pins to Jan Rakes, Gwen Kuehn, Barb Watts, and Jean Martin. Editor pins were presented to Anita Schroeber, PRAIRLAN editor, and Lotty Sackman, TERRIER editor. Linda McNaney received a business manager pin for her services on the annual staff. For a perfect score on a business arithmetic exam, Judy Tippie and Judy Tusler were given certificates of merit. The Betty Crocker Award went to Connie Revell and Jonie Johansen won the Bausch and Lomb Science Award. For outstanding accomplishments in music, Kathy Elser was presented with the John Philip Sousa Award. High School Week delegates, Kathy Elser, Anita Schroeber, Connie Revell, Jonie Johansen, and Georgia Yoakam received recognition and certificates . Certificates for participation were given to student council members and twirlers. Honor roll certificates were awarded to students who were on the honor roll three out of four times during the year. Athletic awards were presented in football, basketball, and track. In football, the outstanding defensive player and halfback was Ed Bray. Craig Dunnam was named as outstanding lineman and Mike Brown most improved player. Basketball awards were as follows: freethrow award, Glenn Schmidtg rebound award, Bill Gristg outstanding defensive player, Ed Brayg and most valuable player, Tim Inman. Roger Neumiller was recognized as the most valuable track man and Mark Yoakam the most improved track man.
