Tim In- man, a noteworthy ballplayer, directed affairs as president. His worthy assistant was james Hauck, vice-president Qcenterj. Ray Link fulfilled his secretarial duties. The Story Of A Class It was a calm sunny day in 1963. The trees and grass were green, not spring green but Au ust reen h' h 7 g g ! W 1C was a yellow-green color due to the sun's rays. About 8: 15, Terry High School was bombarded with students who were reluctantly returning to another year of education. There was one group of students, 51 in all, who did not seem to have any opinion of the comin school S year-- at least, they did not express it. They were too scared. As man of them at h d h y W c e t e upper classmen, some no doubt, were ready to try the eighth grade again. However, there were brave ones who set about ,I . t f. d . . . . ying o in their lockers. Since they had registered a week earlier, they knew they had a locker but. . . was it 26 or 62? For several days, classes were interrupted with a knock and a shy, embarrassed frosh asking ls this general math class ? Soon freshman introduction was upon them and they were required to bring candy for the greedy seniors. Many people felt the freshmen were little brats who never did much of anythin however with o l f g n y our class meetings throughout the whole year, they managed to break a T. H. S. traditicin of the seniors always wi ' th 1 l ' nning e annua sa es contest by defeating all other classes. The next year when S4 students returned as sophomores, they were much more confident and at ease. They went to their classes and were quite industrious. The class was considered fickle because the h d h ' y c ange t eir float idea two nights before the parade! But no one could complain because they won second prize. M st f th h ' ' ' o o e sop omore year was characterized by work---homework, aptitude tests, achievement tests, and cleaning up the mess after the prom. Summer fun must have attracted several, as only 47 students returned to begin the 'unior ea of f J y r un . The biggest threat to the class was THE PROM which was put on for the Senior Class by the juniors. But alas this class had e l'ttl ' ' ' v ry 1 e money. Then someone suggested, 'Hey, hold a carwash, sell advance tickets. Soia carwash was held and they earned the much needed cash. The prom, which was the highlight of the junior year, had the theme Harbor Lights . The gym was decorated in light blue and light reen with fish et d h l ' ' ' g , n s an sea s e ls as added decorations. An old fishing boat and a lighthouse were also part of the scenery. The junior Class also put on a three-act farce entitled PEOPLE ARE FUNNY, to help relieve the cost of the prom. Forty-seven almighty seniors returned, ready to make whoopee out of their last, hopefully, year at Terry High School. Things started off with a grand slam when plans were made to initiate and give the freshmen a bad time, after all, it was done when they were freshmen! ln the spring of 1967, the seniors of Terry High School received their diplomas and ventured out into the world carrying the motto, Life is what we make it. 21 Blakely, John Brown, Michael Buckingham, Linda Covert, Karen Dirks, Dianne Dolatta, Nancy Dukart, Cindy Elser, K athryn Everling, jennifer Finneman, Tom Gaub, Jeanette Gaub, LeRoy Grist, Eugene Hauck, James Haughian, Lauralea Haughian, Theresa Senior Directory Transferred from Billings 2. Science night for the junior High was an event at which the members did demonstrations to show some scientific experiments . The Science Club also took field trips to Fort Peck and the Glasgow Air Force Base. President of the club, Kathy Elser, commented after the Air Force Base trip, Everything was really interesting, but I was lost when they started explaining the electronic equip- ment. A wild cheer arises from a group of purple and white class spectators. This organized cheering section, the Pep Club, helps to boost school spirit. The Pep Club members in their uniforms of a purple wool jumper and white blouse for the girls and a purple vest for the boys, provide a colorful I f group of enthusiasts. As an organization, it is a mainstay of football and basketball games. Its activities include selling concessions. The lobby of the new gym provides a modern area to sell in. Pep Club this year provided the extra service of a coat check used during basketball games. Among other things, the members act as ushers and serve lunch to the visiting team. Lettermenls Club Has Reduced Membership The busy boys of the Lettermen's Club started the year with only nineteen active members, since membership has been limited to those boys with a given number of athletic points. A Lettermen's Ball was the first project of the year. Almost everyone took part in some way to make it a big success . The next project was raising badly needed funds. The club sold pens, making over eighty dollars . As the year came to an end the boys looked proudly back upon their list of accomplishments and modest profits of the year. Eddie Bray presides at Lettermen's meeting School paper members examine copy to be printed. Paper Staff Works On Improvements Editor-in-chief Lotty Sack- man published an interesting TERRIER every month this year . Though some students disagreed furiously with the editorial on how athletics are overemphasized in Terry High School, the editor- ial did make most students stop and think about the issue. The paper kept a running record of events at Terry High School. Headlines during the basketball seas on boasted of the team's advancement to the state tournament . Spring headlines proclaimed the achievements of the music department at the district music festival. Terry High School students agreed that the TERRIER had improved and looked for an even better paper in the future. Left to Right: D. Hoffer, S. Corneliusen, T. Finneman, R. Wilson, L. Sackman, B. Not Spirit The Terry Terriers opened their foot- ball season early this year, under the direction of Coach john Polich, with practice beginning two weeks before school started. During the first two weeks the squad saw hard practice, and as the date for the first game approached, the team worked even harder. The Terriers journeyed to Fairview for their first game and lost 34 to 7. The terriers then ventured to Broadus and were defeated l8 to O. The Terriers started the conference season by smashing Ekalaka 33 to 7. The winning streak was short lived when the Terriers fell to defeat at the hand of Wibaux 58 to 25 and Sacred Heart who trampled the Terriers 65 to 6. The Terriers also lost to Broadus by the score of 26 to O. The Terriers rallied in their final game by trampling the State ' School Beavers 45 to 0. The season ended with the Terriers having 2 wins and 5 losses. The Terriers chalked up a total of ll6 points for the season compared to 168 points of the opponents. Terry Advances To State The Terriers started out their season under Coach Shepherd by playing in the Baker Invitational Basketball Tournament. Terry lost out and was plagued by a six- game losing streak. In the conference play the Terriers bounced back by winning the next six straight. The Terriers ended their conference record with nine wins--five losses. By the time the District Tournament came around Terry was ready. We defeated Broadus the first game, but lost to Sacred Heart the next night. We beat Plevna to get into the fight for third and fourth with jordan. We won by two points and then went on to defeat Wibaux in a challenge. The Terriers were then proud to hear that Tim Inman was selected Most Valuable Player in the District Tournament. The Terriers then travelled to Glendive for the Divisional Tournament. By defeating Lambert and Lustre, Terry got a berth in the championship game. The Terriers lost to the Shamrocks of Miles City by five points. Monday night Medicine Lake challenged Terry but the Terriers wal- loped them by nineteen points. So away went the Terriers to Helena for the State Tournament. The Terriers lost out to St. Labre, who turned out to win the State Championship, and Boulder, the predicted winner. Terry in summing up their season, was quite successful. We were the second in our district and the second best team in the Eastern Division. Next year it will be the Sportsmanship trophy!
