The Terriers made a total of 208 points while their opponents made only 94. Terriers finished in 2nd place in the Sub District. A gold trophy was awarded to the school. Leroy Haidle was nominated Captain of the 1953 squad. His outstanding clutch play and field generalship helped in the winning of many games this fall. Coach Carlson's 1953 football squad had a reasonably successful season with a total of 4 wins and 2 losses. This was the first year Terry has had six man football since the fall of '48. The first game of the season started out with a heart-breaker, Terry lost 26- 25 with Hysham pushing over two TDs in the 4th quarter to overtake our 18-6 lead at half time. Our second game was with Wibaux with our fellows playing one of their finest games, with Haidle going over for three touchdowns and Lee run- ning one for 75 yards. The score ended 26-O. Terry Terriers again proved stiff competition by trouncing Plevna 46-19 with all of the Terry players seeing action. Ekalaka showed their power by running over Terry 37-14 which was to be the deciding game in Conference Standing. Ekalaka went on to take the eastern Division class C Six man football title. Ter- riers bounced back to win over State School and Broadus score being 58-12 and 39-0 respectives.
