BOOTH In sincere appreciation of the understanding, kindness, patience, and un- tiring effort of Mrs. R. B. Tooey, our pep squad sponsor, and Prof. E. S. Booth, our band director, we dedicate this annual to them. They will always be remembered as a most important factor in our high school days for their part in sponsoring worth-while and ambitious performanc- es, which helped to make Terrell High School and the Terrell Tigers known and respected. Their work does not end with the football season, but continues throughout the entire year. Two people who are able to create such a wholesome school spirit and do such an excellent job are certainly very deserving of this recognition, which cannot, however, begin to give enough credit to them for their work. Although T.H.S. students may not be famous, we sometimes hear songs that remind us of them. Putting our imaginations to task, we have dreamed up some personality- tune combinations for the junior Class. Gough Alexander-What Is,This Thing Called Love? Only the best of available teams were scheduled for games. The season started off with a bang as the Tigers lost to the powerful Garland Owls 20-6 The next week a riled Grand Saline team eked out a 13-7 win over the Tigers. The third game was with a strong Mesquite eleven, which was held to a 0-O tie. The Tigers' first conference game was with Royce City, the Tigers running up a muddy 25-7 score. The second conference game was with Plano at Plano. Although the opposing eleven was stronger and larger, the Tigers beat out a 13-6 victory. For the first time in several years a Dallas B team was scheduled for a game. The Woodrow Wilson B team received a jolting 32-6 loss at the hands of the Tigers. A het-up Tiger eleven journeyed to Athens for the district tilt. After a hard- fought game they ended on top of a 13-6 score, keeping the Tigers' victory rate at perfection for conference games. ' The next week an extremely strong Rockwall team journeyed to Terrell to take a 13-6 beating at the hands of an outweighed Tiger clan. As a preparatory game for Kaufman, the Tigers took a trip to Arlington for a non-district game, in which the fast-moving Arlington team rolled up a 34-14 win. As a climax and finish to the '49 season the Tigers met their traditional rivals, the Kaufman Lions, who overcame the vastly outweighed, outrun Tigers 40-0. The loss to Kaufman killed the Tigers' district championship hopes. The season, all in all, however, was successful, the Tigers losing only to teams that became the champions of their respective districts. Terrell wound up in second place in the district race. The organization is now six years old and has forty-eight members. All the past presidents are either married or away at college. During National Week of Future Homemakers the ,Terrell Chapter decided to observe a hobo day to raise money for the state camp fund. All the girls put on their work clothes early in the morning of November 5 and went on their merry way to wax floors, wash windows, rake leaves, and do all the jobs the housewives could hardly get around to doing. Everyone seemed to have a generous heartg so the girls soon had their camp fund quota and money left to keep in their own treasury. The day ended with a weiner roast at the city park. The following day, November 6, again all were out early to end the National Week of Future Homemakers with all attending the First Christian Church. On December 3, 1949, Terrell made history. She was the hostess to all of the District III organizations of the Future Homemakers of America. New district officers were elected. Barbara Lyon walked off with the honor of district secretary. The theme of the day's program was International Good Will. This day ended with a group of two hundred tired but happy Future Homemakers getting on their buses and going back to their home towns. The programs for the entire year have been planned. These programs were based upon the eight purposes of the Future Homemakers of America.
