Speak in French when you can't think of the English for a thing. Mrs. Hatcock teaches French I-IV. The class- es use tapes to help with comprehension and pronunciation and they see films on French cul ture. The French lll and lV students tutor the elementary students. Our history department is made up of World Cultures land ll, U.S. Historyjarid Govern- ment, taught by Mrs. Tomkinsj and Problems of Democracy, taught by Mr. Church. Mrs. Kenny teaches Junior High School Studies and Science. History teaches everything, even the future. NCLI H and RE DING Literature, taken in all its bearings, forms the grand line of demarcation between the hu- man and the animal kingdoms.. A summer reading program was added to our English and Reading department. The high school students are required to read certain books during the summer. Sixth and seventh grade English is taught by Mrs. Moore, eighth grade English by Mrs. Hathcock and Mrs. Brim, English land ll, by Mrs. Harris, and English Ill and IV, by Mrs. West. The junior high take reading under Mrs. Bar- field. They work in the SAR reading lab and have a pilot librar ta library in which they se- lect their own booisd They also write lime- ricks and Haikus. Our math and science departments help to pre- pare us for an ever changing world. In our sci- ence department we have jr. high science, taught by Mrs. Vassar, biology, taught by Coach Daniel, and Physical Science, Physio- logy, and chemistry, taught by Coach Golden.' The department uses the lab for study. We all remember the entire school smelling like chlo- rophyll, almost blowing up the lab with experi- ments, and pricking fingers for blood. Two courses were added to our math depart- ment this yearg general math, taught by Coach Golden, and Pre-Calcus, taught by Mrs. Lin- der. The other courses are, jr. high math, taught by Mrs. Lee, Algebra I and Il, geome- try, and trigonometry, all taught by Mrs. Lind- er.
