LCDR Mark V. V. Nelson, USN LCDR Mark V. V. Nelson was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 16 October 1931. He enlisted in the Navy on 1 April 1952 and at- tended Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island begin- ning in March 1958. LCDR Nelson has had a background in the Amphibious Force since his first duty assigmnent as an officer. Upon receiving his com- mission as an Ensign, LCDR Nelson reported for duty as Navigator aboard USS PAUL REVERE QLPA 2481 where he served until June 1961. At that time, in his first billet aboard an LST, LCDR Nelson became Executive Officer of USS JEROME COUNTY QLST 8481. From February 1963 until June 1964 LCDR Nelson was ashore serving as Senior Naval Advisor and Junk Force Advisor for First Corps at Danang, Republic of Vietnam. Since then he has held bil- lets in the Officer Performance Section of BUPERS from June 1964 until March 1966, as Commander PCF Division 104 from March 1966 until May 1967, and as Executive Officer aboard USS CABILDO QLSD 161 from May 1967 until March 1969. Prior to reporting aboard TERREBONNE PARISH, LCDR Nelson served as Officer in charge U.S. Naval Forces Philippines detachment, Singapore. Lieutenant Michael A. Murray USNR Lieutenant Murray was born in Portland, Maine on 25 March 1941. A graduate of Holy Cross College he entered OCS in September 1963. Upon receiving his commission in February 1964 Lieutenant Mur- ray was assigned to USS LORAIN COUNTY QLST 11771 where he served as First Lieutenant and later as Operations Officer until February 1967. After eleven months as a civilian he returned to the Navy under the TAR Program in January 1968 and was assigned to U. S. Naval Reserve Training Center Augusta, Maine as Commanding Officer where he served until December 1969. From then until the present time, he has been Executive Officer, USS TERREBONNE PARISH. Lieutenant Murray is married to the former Marilyn Achorn and has two children, EXECUTIVE OFFICER , X.O. WORK Sz PLAY
