The Terrace Park Thespian Club is undoubtedly one of the most active clubs in the High School. lt is an honorary organi- zation of students who are interested in the production of plays. The local troupe, No. 776, is a member of the National Thespian Society, which was organized into a national club from the original Thespian Society of Fairmont State College, in West Virginia. lts officers are Bebe Williamson, President, Lois Ratliff, Vice-President, Penny Roose, Secretary, and Bar- bara Beets, Treasurer ' ln order to become a member of the Thespian organization, the candidate must have achieved certain qualifications re- quired by the national club, plus those standards required by the local troupes. The objects of this non-social, non-secret society are two- fold: lil to establish and advance standards of excellence in all phases of ,dramatic arts in secondary high schools, and l2l to create an active interest in histrionics among students. One of the oldest and most honored organizations in Terrace Park is the Hi-Y. This club is open to all Senior and Junior boys. lt is affiliated with the National Hi-Y organization and also the Y.M.C.A. i The organization of this year's group started late, with the applications for admission being sent out in early January. A large group of boys responded and the February initiation brought in a very capable and qualified group of neophytes. This group, along with the seven members remaining from last year, composed an energetic and active fellowship. The-first and probably most important of the proiects of the Hi-Y was the raising of money for the March of Dimes. In view of this, Hi-Y sponsored an intra-mural basketball game between the champion Junior team and an All-Star team composed of representative players of each team in the intramural league. By merely passing the hat , S23 was collected. This money was added to an estimated S50 which was collected by the organiza- tion by asking for donations on downtown street corners. Under the sponsorship of Mr. Wilson and Mr. Avery, the Hi-Y has done much this year to improve the ideals of this national group. These ideals are to increase scholarship, fellow- ship, and moral standing among high school boys.

This year All-Hi has been under the direction of Mr. Quinn, who is a new member of the faculty at Terrace Park. He is a graduate of the College of Music at Cincinnati and has done an excellent job of instructing the All-Hi chorus. . All-Hi has taken part in a number of activities which have been given at Terrace Park. The first important event was the Variety Show in which All-Hi sang Let's Dance , Blue Skies , and The Whiffenpoof Song . In the Christ-E mas performance, the chorus sang Masters In This HalI , O Holy Night , Bethlehem , and The Lord Bless You. Every year it is traditional for the All-Hi chorus to present anoperetta. This year they gave Gilbert and SuIlivan's Mikado. The female leads were held by Barbara Beets, Yum-Yum, Lois Ratliff, Pitti-Sing, Sally Chapman, Beep-Bo, page forty-four Row 4-S. Donaldson, S. Howell, D. Collins, B. Peirson. o h I Nancy Chapman, Katisha. The male leads were Paul Frazee, Nanki-Poo, Dave Rawnsley, the Mikado, Bill Johnson, Ko-Ko, Mark Cottings, Pooh-Bah. The Mikado is the story of the Mikado's son who has run away from his father's palace because he does not want to marry an elderly lady named Katisha. He is in love with Yum-Yum, who is supposed to marry Ko-Ko, Lord High Executioneer of Titipu. He disguises himself as Nanki-Poo, a wandering minstrel, and offers to accommodate Ko-Ko and be executed in a month's time provided he is allowed to marry Yum-Yum for that month. Ko-Ko, who has promised the people that he will endeavor to find victims for execution, accepts the offer, and steps into a neat little plan that results in his marriage to Katisha, as the price of release, thus leaving Yum-Yum to Nanki-Poo.
