Williamson. latin club y Annual election of officers was held at the first meeting of the Latin Club this year. Candidates were run on the two usual tickets, the Populares, and the Gptimates. The following officers were elected: Gayle Crawford, President, .lim Harmon, Vice- President, Bob Patrick, Secretary, and Sally Chapman, Treasurer. The Sophomore Latin students were initiated into the club in the early part of October. In November the members were in- vited to Mrs. Foster's annual supper at Butterworth Farm. Saturnalia , the traditional Christmas play was presented by the Sophomores at the December meeting. The Freshman class was invited to attend. Christmas carols were sung in Latin, and refreshments were served. The first year Latin students who achieved a B average for the first semester were initiated into Advocati Latini at the Row 3-M. Cottings, B. Barber, T. Hin, S. Hussey, J. Gehrig, R. Mathis, B. Patrick, P. Rheinhardt, C. Augsbuger. Not in Picture-A. Tiemeyer, J. Harmon. February meeting. Bob Patrick, Gayle Crawford, Shirley Stoeck- lin, Nancy Williamson, Jane Gingrich, and Marlene Wallace took part in the ceremony. The freshmen who were initiated are as follows: John Gehrig, Francis Williams, Martin Lodge, Stewart Hussey, Ann Tiemeyer, Richard Whitley. On the eleventh of April, the traditional Roman Banquet was held in honor of the new Freshmen initiates. At the second annual Homecoming game, the Latin Club sponsored a float based on the theme of Veni, vidi, vici. Sally Chapman was chairman of the Latin Club float, and Marlene Wallace was chosen as the cIub's candidate for queen. Under the able leadership of the new sponsor, Mrs. Watkins, the Latin Club has had a most successful and enioyable year. n page thirty-seven

Patrick. quiH and scroH The Quill and Scroll was organized in i926 to encourage and reward individual achievement in High School iournalism. ln i940 Terrace Park's two publications, the Bulldog and the Terrace Parker were accepted as members ot this international journalistic society. In order to obtain membership in this society one must meet the following requirements. lil He must be of at least iunior standing. l2l He must be in the upper third of his class. l3l He must have done superior work in some phase of gour- nalistic or creative endeavor. pa Ihirly-six l4l He must be recommended by the advisor. l5l He must be approved by the executive secretary. Since Quill and Scroll exists to reward individual students for meritorious work, the size of the group chosen for membership depends upon: Ill the level of ability ofthe staff as a whole for a particular year, l2l the ability to meet the general requirements of the society, and I3l the particular requirements of the adviser. The students so honored were Penny Roose and Gayle Craw- ford, Co-Editors, Dick Sonntag, Ruth Barnett, Dave Rawnsley, Dianne Cary, Lois Ratlitf, Barbara Beets. The students chosen this year were as follows: Tom Baker, Shirley Stoecklin, Dick Siegel, Dorothy McConnell, and Bebe Williamson.
