D106 1-Mrs. Ruth Shackleford Mrs. Shackleford is one of Terrace Park's loyal supporters although she comes from the camp of a friendly rival, Plainville. She is constantly teased about her ac- cent la mixture of Southern drawl and New England clip.l The mother of three boys, Mrs. Shackleford has certainly gained remarkable experience, both in teaching and understanding. 4-Mrs. Mildred McCracken Folk songs, folk dancing, folk lore. -No, this isn't a trade name. lt is Mrs, McCracken's fav- orite pastime, while Bach, Revel, and Gershwin are her favorite composers. Along with her choral work she instructs our budding in- strumentalists in everything from the bass horn to the clarinet. Her husband, Lt. Charles McCracken, is a psychologist in the Army Air Forces. 2-Miss Elizabeth Philhower The lady with the innumerable friends-that's Miss Philhower. Few women master the sciences and intricate m ath problems, therefore, we take off our hats to Miss Philhower for producing en- gineers and mathematicians who have brought their alma mater honorable mention. She has popu- larized the Girl Reserves and made it a traditionally respected club. 5-Miss Susan Hance If you're not careful, l'll turn you over my checked apron! But be- neath this threatening manner lies the kindly and understanding na- ture of Miss Hance. Disabled as she was by a broken arm, our blue-eyed science teacher has proved herself indispensable in running the movie proiector, the phonograph, and even-once in an emergency-changing a tire! 16 3--Mrs. Ethel lnnis One of the best liked stand-bys in Terrace Park is no other than Mrs. lnnis, our English teacher. We've come to depend not only on her knowledge concerning lit- erature and grammar, but also on her judgment and experience that often comes in handy. Much of her spare time has been given to mak- ing the annual and the Bulldog a success during the past several years. 6-Mrs. Jeanette Moore Mrs. Moore, with her quiet gentle way, stayed iust long enough to recruit a large All-Hi group. Then she resigned to devote all her energies to her family. Her hus- band is an outstanding musician who entertained us at the prom. She made many friends in her short stay, and gave to her pupils an unusually fine appreciation of the music she loved so well. Q X'

'I Miss Florence Locke She came she saw she con quered this could very well be referring to Mlss Locke our new language teacher Her sweet dls position and her calm discipline have done much to create a pleas an atmosphere ll of er classes Her shy manner has In trlgued her students and has proved effective In creating Inter est In their work both In and out of the classroom 4 Mrs Evelyn Robinson Mrs Robinson actually leads a double life for she manages to keep house for her husband and seven-year old son and at the same time teach English to our underclassmen. The iunior class keeps her busy too- as their ad- viser Mrs. Robinson managed the prom with such outstanding suc- cess that she has completely won the gratitude and appreciation of the pupils of her iunior class. 1.-...qw i 2 Miss Jean Soth Miss Soth has the combined qual ities of Job and Solomon which are without doubt necessary to hold the position of sophomore adviser Although she IS a strlct dlsclpllnarlan she is always ready for a good laugh with her stu dents at any time Not only is she a brilliant scholar in mathematics but also a brilliant first baseman on the championship softball team' 5 Mass Frances Wright Not another basket' Ohhl Miss Wright has done ll again t hig school gir s w' vouch for her unerring aim on the b s etball floor d all he seventh and eighth graders will agree that she s an A-l person. Miss Wright has quite an amazing a set-her famous car. It s parts from Cadillac and Crosley, purple seat-covers, and a fabulous record for service. l5 3 Mass Louise Abel Our competent art teacher was born ln Germany and has studled much In forelgn lands She has proved herself a real artlst by carrying off many scholarships and prizes for her work Under Miss Abels guidance our art classes are learning the funda mentals of sketching and paint Ing Her name IS cl key to her per sonallty and we feel very for tunate to have her with us 6 Mr Jay Leming Our male population is In the minority and one of the out standing leaders of th's little r up is M. Leming-one t whom the boys confide their griev- ances and ill-doings. Mr. Leming has combined a peaceful farm life with the skill of diplomatically managing boys in their teens. The graduates aiding Uncle Sam in- variably return to tell Jay Lem- ing of their experiences.
