LANCERS BUILD PRIDE A FIDENCE Hitting them hard, this year's Frosh team made the 81-82 football season at Tennyson an exciting one. The long summer of dedicated practice enabled Coaches Randy Malmgren and Alan Hart to build a strong, ambitious team. As the year progressed, the Lancers became stronger and more united. They showed the opposition what it took to make a good team. Team captain, Kelly Musgrove, added, We worked really hard this summer and it really paid off because this yearls team was exceptionally better than last year. We really had a good time and I know that next year's team will be even betterf, Coach Randy Malmgren quipped, The Frosh team played to it's potential as the league season opened up. A strong offensive line of Just Joplin, Tim Moore, Chris Bygum, Kelly Musgrove, Eric Silva, and Jason Lee opened up holes for John Lambert as he approached the 1000 yards rushing. Quarterback Daryll Clarke ran the offense. The Defense was run by captain Kelly Musgrove with Jay Johnson anchoring a strong line backer corp. Tennyson can be proud of our top-notch Frosh Team. They left a very positive mark on us with their superior techniques. Y X .19 - B v , .Q I X . .LZ 1' n .XX , W v - t R N ?i ' N 1 . X.. le '55 1 Q if- N ESOME LANCERS led by Coaches Milt Pickford and Bill Caprasecca showed great promise and hope. The Lancers came onto the field with Ray Magallanes and Simon Torres as one ofthe best pairs of wide-receivers in Lancer history, said Coach Pickford. Jackie Williams' running kept alive Tennyson's history of great runningbacks. Manuel Manzo, offensive captain with his powerful front front line, Dave Ed- wards, Don Edwards, Steve Dimas, Vince Black, John Vilche, and Melvin Silva held back defensive efforts to get the ball. When the year began the Lancers hoped to be rated in the East Bay ZA Polls. Their dreams came true after defeating both Moreau and McClymonds, they were rated fifth. This was the highest the Lancers were ever ranked in Tennyson history. The Lancers worked very hard the week following the game against McClymonds getting ready for the strong Oakland Tech. Oakland Tech played a very tough aggressive game, but the Lancers' awesome power was proven too tough for Oakland Tech. Lancers beat them 21-12. Oakland Tech was the last game for our Lancers in pre-season and after that game we were RATED THIRD . .4 f A-gf ff , .,,,.,,,. , A E .L ' Q na may H., rV '7' v.' lff . t . .1 -- Q41 f.,-...F .Lv -K' .:' v - Aan-'lu-an i ' ' 14 ' - ' SA 4A I2 Ynrsilx Football Al
