BAC TO BASICS English is needed for every human who lives in the U.S. to be informed and to communicate with others. For the last couple of years teachers have been stressing the basics of reading and writing, which these abilities are needed by each student to graduate, from Tennyson High School. Mrs. Frances Gibson commented, English is the cen- tral subject we teach here. If students learn to commu- nicate well, and how to use the library so they can always find what they need to know, they have the tools to become educated. Humanities teacher, Dan Morrison, was also quoted as saying, You don't appreciate your language until you go to a foreign country, and you want to be understood. English should be important to us because it is a tool that can open doors and create relationships. We use it to express our feelings and our dreams. Sometimes we use it to hurt others. English is the bridge that helps me teach you all. 98X English

L . if 5? 5 - 451 Q If 'Q iff-tes SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES Learning to use atomic numbers and how to dissect frogs and earthworms were some of the many events that took place in the science classes. In C-6 students learned how to mix various chemicals together to creat different formulas. Sometimes these formulas had smelly results. Labs were done through- out the year. MI looked forward to the lab experimentsf' commented Dawn Hernandez. Although the work sometimes gets hard, commented Cathie Pearson, 'EI know that I will benefit from it. Biology classes learned how to dissect frogs and investi- gated how genetic traits are transmitted from parents to offspring. Microscopes were used to determine the difference between A and B blood types. Students found that they could depend on the microscopes to help lead them to scientific discoveries.
