'yi TILL THEY V MEET AGAIN In view of their wonderful leadership and spirit during the past two years, the 1960 AIEGIS has been dedicated to the first grad- uating class of Tennyson High As the upper classmen, they contributed richly to the growth and development of the school, leag- ing numerous traditions for the underclass- men to carry on. They participated enthusiastically in var- ied campus activities and established an ef- ficient student government, by which Tenny- son abides. Being loyal Lancers, the seniors supported their athletic teams at all games, cheering them on vigorously. Wfhether Tcn- nyson won or lost, they were still proud of being senior Lancers. First-ever events including Tournament Day, the publication of the newspaper, LAN- CER LEGEND, and of the yearbook AEGIS, were a vivid part of their Tennyson High School days. But, perhaps, most excit- ing ancl important of all were their senior ball, graduation day, and baccalaureate. These deserved special place in the scrap- book of each senior, Fellow Lancers are proud to have had the 1960 senior class as their leaders, and can only hope to measure up to their spirit, drive, and loyalty in the years to come. The seniors are leaving Tennyson with fond memoriesg we hope some day they will meet again under the same cherished roofs. ag if A-491 ' r L' I-,Lf ! The foundation for the student gov- ernment is the Legislative Assembly and the Exetutive Countil, The Legislative Assembly is the most im- portant group eonterning the welfare and well-being ul' the student body. It is made up ol' all the student body oft-ieers and the room representatives from the sotial studies classes. This assembly meets the first Tues- day of every month to distuss and att on school problems. It has the responsibility ot' handling student at-fairs and arranges for ae- tivities, elettions of theer leaders. song girls and student body officers. Like the infant we have had to carry ,' 4 Q . ip out tasks on a trial and error basis. We had little idea of V where problems would next arise, and less idea of how to ii solve them. As time passed, we gained knowledge of the things sr sy, K QE A . f S ' p . around us. This knowledge has given us insight. We have , risen from the infant stage to that of the young child. If we 4- ' do not find answers for our problems, we continue to seek for them. A In our youth, student body unity and participation in activ- ities have not been all that we hoped they would be. The fault lies 'not with the students alone, A great transition of spirit had to take place between two other schools and' our own. Wfe are still growing. This second year has been better than the first, and so shall the third be better than the second. As v we progress our problems may not decrease, but their solution will become a lesser task. 93525 fy ' A iff However, we have not yet reached this point. Before each s of you lie untold opportunities. Many traditions and prece- 5 dents wait to be established. There's only one difference! This years freshman class will have the privilege of spending all four of their high school years here at Tennyson. Perhaps shy and frightened are the words that arc- usually used to describe the ordinary freshmen, but the upper classmen can agree that these words could not be fairly used to describe the class of '64, They have not only been spirited loyal lancers but they have also shown a great turnout for sports, dances, and extra-curricular activities throughout the year. As all freshman classes look forward to being sophomores, the class of '64 is no ex- ception. They have anxiously awaited the day when they could be called such. They can now proudly say that they have earned the right to be called sophomores, not only be- cause of their academic acquirements, but also because of the great amount of work that they have accomplished throughout their first year of high school. Although the Lancers did not win all the contests in which they participated, they showed fine spirit and sportsmanship in their efforts. The student body has supported the teams well at all of the games.
