WEENA CARES FOR THE WHITE SOLDIER One day a hunting party, returning to Chota, found a white soldier, wounded and almost dead, upon the ground. They stopped and spent the night bringing him back to life. When he was able to speak he told them that he was one of General Ferguson s men who had met with disaster at the Battle of King s Mountain. The hunters took him immediately to Atta-kulla-kulla, who instructed them to leave the soldier in his care. He was placed in the chieftain s wigwam and there Weena cared for his needs and brought him back to health. Gradually he regained his strength and began to take part m the games and exer- cises of the young men, as well as the hunting and fishing expeditions. THE CLASSES A
