Tech Village has economic factor Married Tech students find living in Tech Village a good economic advantage -the way the majority of students must look at things. Rent is arranged so as to fit the budget of the average married stu- dent. Aside from the economic factor, Tech Village is conveniently located in relation to the campus. It also has those extras for comfort's sake which is a real advantage for the student's money. Students enjoy the availablity of a swimming pool in the summer months. They also have access to a recreation center and laundry. Apartments are attractive and can be rented with or without furniture. They have air conditioning facilities as well as heat. Students have a choice of one or two bedroom units. Debbie Botteniield, a Tech Village res- ident, iinds life in Tech Village enjoy- able. I!! Looks as if Donna Fusarini has been caught short- sheeting someone's bed. Unit : unlimited hours for Women This year women ages 21 and over were allowed the privilege of living in a dorm with unlimited hours. Unit A was selected as the residence for these young women. Unit A operates just as any other women's dorm except the residents are not restricted to certain hours. However, the sign-out system is still in use in the dorm. Other than the age requirement, the only other stipulation is that each woman must be willing to stay up one night a quarter to answer the door for women who wish to stay out later than 11 p.m. on weeknights and 1 a.m. on week- ends. Although Unit A was initiated only this year it has already proven successful in its operation. The smoothness of its opera- tion in this its first year is due to the co- operation of the women in the dorm, its counselors Linda Roach and Brenda Phil- lips, and the head resident, Mrs. Ralston. Dean Murphy has also contributed to the success of this system. Men oc- casionally find time to study or sleep be- tween shaving-cream fights and booby- trapping bathroom doors. Despite all the militant action that occurs in the dorms, the residents make one big happy family. This year Smith Lodge opened in the Smith Quadrangle. The lodge serves both male and female students with lounge facilities. The lodge features a game room and laundry room, a lounge with six living room suites, a television room, a snack room and an AM-FM stereo intercom system. Another new fa- cility serving Tech men is the new dress- ing room for Tech's football team. The dressing room is furnished attractively for its purpose, complete with carpeting and air conditioning. Living conditions for Tech men on campus have improved con- siderably in the past few years and the fu- ture looks even better. Page 27
