A strong body has always been re- quired in order for man to survive. Today, because machines do most of the once physical labor, man has fewer opportunities for extended periods of physical activity. In the University where academics are stressed, little time is allotted for physical exercise. Intramural sports give the most en- joyment to the student. He is not re- quired to be highly skilled in order to play. Instead, he is to enjoy the game andto learn for pleasure its techniques. Winning is utmost for any competitive event, yet, enthusiasm while trying is far more important than professional know-how. From this type of athletics, the stu- dent learns the value of teamwork, the extent of his own ability and the satis- faction of accomplishment. Page 8 fy KVM '

He must treat every person he meets as a people. ln each person is a microcosm that, by itself, must adapt to support and defend its ruler. How it is ruled is determined by each individual. It has by its as- sociations adapted to the society and environment in which it has chosen to live. A student election is as important as a national one. Participation in campus elections shows the ability of the student to assess the contributions and goals of others toward progressive University life. In fact, a pattern set in college is often the pattern for life- good or bad. Extracurricular activities encompass all facets of experience. A fraternity meeting, a ballgame, a walk around the campus, a parking lot excursion are all scheduled during the four-year for morej stay. Protests have become a regular part of the University years. Women de- mand and get later dorm hours. A moratorium observance reveals pros and cons of war. Petitions telling, asking, demanding, forcing . . . Experiences outside the safe enclo- sure of a classroom are mandatory. Page 7
