A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT The God of doorways. gates and entrances and the patron of all beginnings represents the theme for the tt80-81 Tennessean. As the patron of beginning. the first hour of mch day was sacred to him; so were the first day of the month and the first month of the year. In the.- tradition of Tennessee State University, you. the student. are sacred to us. You represent a beginning for us each time a new class enters our threshold and another class graduates. During the four years you spend with us, we try to motivate you through a curriculum of flexibility to meet both your needs and ideologies which will enable you to choose courses ot study to fit your background and expectations. The two heads of Janus facing in Opposite directions symbolize the two faces of our door to higher education. You enter that door to a new beginning like a sponge ready to absorb whatever is beyond the door. The entire administrationofaculty and staffois committed to satiating you with our enriching education programs so that you will pass through the other side of janus ready to fact your new beginning.
