THE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Itt the lantl of gnlilrti sunshine, Ity thr Cumberland's fertile shore. Stands a school for ferrates! service; Our that u'r atlore. Alma Mater, how w love thee! Love thy white and blue. May we Strive to meet lliy mandates H'r ii faith that's true. There is that indefinable something called college spirit that exists in a more or less degree in all our institutions. It may he recognized hv the intangible qualities ol loyalty, honor, respect, love, admiration, and similar attributes. As incor|x real as it is. one is aware ol its degree of presence and in proportion to its existence one is likely to respond to the condition or situation. It is this other side of the picture that builds a great institution, not the brick and mortar alone, and it is with this in mind that Tennessee State College en- deavors to respond to both aspects ol the individual's developmental training- knowledge which may satisfy the self-centered phase of the individual's life and social cooperation which may satisfy the farsceing phase of his life. It is then my opinion that the love one has for his institution is the icstilt of the service that the institution is or has been to him in realizing his education- al. social, economic, and spiritual needs.
