To follow the action of the Vikings through 25 straight wins and 2 state Triple A Championships. Thrown in with that; 5 all-staters in two seasons, eleven championship records broken, two all Southern Selections, no less than 5 All-American candidates, and as of December, 1972, the Tennessee High School Vikings hold the title of NUMBER ONE in the Nation for high school football. All the feelings of dedication, determination, and the desire to be the best, felt by each member of the team and coaching staff, really came through in the 1972 championship playoffs. It started out with the 40-12 win over Knoxville Central, then the 26-0 win over Nashville Overton, and ended up with the 39-6 win over Chattanooga Baylor. The Vikings deservingly have come to be the pride of not only Tennessee High and Bristol, but truely they are the Pride of Tennessee. The main goal of the T.H.S. cheerleaders is to promote school spirit in all phases of school activities. By leading pep-sessions, making signs, and cheering the Viking teams to victory, they encourage the enthusiasm of the athletic programs as well as the student body. During the summer, the cheerleaders attended a camp in Banner Elk, North Carolina to improve and develop their cheering skills. Each day of the camp session they won a blue ribbon for a total of 5 ribbons. They also won the Spirit Stick. The Viking Cheerleaders were chosen by vote of the other girls in the camp to receive the Spark Plug, and the N.C.A. instructors awarded them with “The Coke Award” for the best performing squad. In the future may this year of memories deepen and preserve the friendships formed during the past years. I wish to express appreciation to the following people who through generous contribution of time and effort helped make this publication possible. Mr. Burk supervised the photography and developed many of the pictures. Mrs. Thomason, our sponsor, patiently guided our efforts; and the annual staff gave much of themselves to the success of our yearbook. The faculty gave their indulgent cooperation. A number of the pictures used in this annual were made available by Bristol Newspapers. Many of the civic minded business and professional leaders supported the Cadmea by purchasing advertise- ments or annuals. The combined efforts of all of these individuals gave meaning to our theme, “Friendship.” Monna Poet Editor 264 PUBLISHING COMPANY WOLFE CITY TEXAS.
