Stephen T. Boretsky has served Tennessee High School in many capacities. As teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal he has helped THS to become one of the finest schools in this area. When Mr. “B” be- came principal in 1953, the enrollment was less than 600, and there were only seventeen classrooms in the “old” building. The faculty numbered 28. Mr. “B” has grown with the school. Today the student body of over 1,000, the 46 teachers, and a million dollar plant all func- tion smoothly under his capable leadership. We all re- spect and admire his sound judgment and willingness to work in our behalf. We would like to extend our ap- preciation to Mr. Boretsky by dedicating the 1965 Cadmea to him. Always willing to help students, Mr. Boretsky gives assistance to Jean Stair with her schedule. Mr. “B” gives a pep talk for V-T game. Larry Weddington and Darlene Brown, royalty of the Senior Class, are crowned by Mr. Boretsky. Mr. Boretsky addresses the student body over the loud speaker. ll Brenda Robertson and Joann Sieber serve Jack Hyder, Sally Pair, and Craig Caldwell at a Roman banquet. Achievements John Cowan and Leslie Countiss examine slides in biology. Hugh Buckles, Joe Robinette, and Linda Mitrushi take part in Presidential election. Having settled down to the routine activities, the club members started compiling the Directory. Along with their many school projects they undertook various civic projects which included selling peanuts for the Kiwanis Club and planting trees. At Christmas they brightened the outlook of a Santa Pal to the tune of $150. During football season they served as ushers at each game and helped stimulate school spirit. V-T week found them selling balloons, buttons, and mums for the game. The basketball programs which they sold were invaluable to those who had trouble identifying players. The Norsemen of Tennessee High School were hurt considerably when the grad- uation of last year’s senior class took many of their starting team. Despite this fac- tor, the Vikings rebuilt their squad under the leadership of Clayton Powers, and they turned out a record of 3-7-0. As the season opened, the Norsemen romped over Knoxville Bearden in a 14-0 victory. In the next two games the Vikings bowed to Greeneville and Baylor Prep in the final minutes of play. Having the taste of victory still in their mouths and not letting their previous defeats get them down, the Vikings then defeated the Hilltoppers of Johnson City with a score of 16-0. They then fell into a slump and lost the next two ball games to Sevierville and Elizabethton with scores of 18-13 and 7-6. The Vikings then bounced back to crush the Erwin team by 32-6. The Vikings ended up this year’s season by being defeated in the last three games, and the city championship went to our north side rivals. The Norsemen board buses for the Morristown game. Winning twenty and losing seven, the Vikings, under the leadership of Coach Ernie Trosper, played some of the state’s best teams and posted many upsets. The Vikings also put forth a fine showing in many tournaments and won its fifth city champion- ship. Several fine players highlighted this year’s basketball team. Among these were Bob Stoots, Ralph Shook, Al Parker, Ford Caldwell, and Larry Weddington. There were many exciting games in this year’s schedule. These included the Bluff City game which we lost 46-47, both Virginia games, and a fine showing in which we defeated Hol- ston Valley by a score of 82-32.
