It was Tuesday mormng September 8 1953 when we, the class of 57 began our high school days It was a brxght sunshmy day wrth the air fllled with excltement as the bell rang for us to go mto Student Body Assembly Mr Bullard wnshed each of us the best of luck and lntroduced the new teachers Mrs Campbell, commg to us from San Luls Oblspo, was our class advnser Followmg the assembly, we went into our home rooms whlch had been assigned to us by Mr Bullard Janet Long, Presndent Shirley Pryor Vlce President Dxana Remert Secretary Tex Cook, Treasurer, Stanley I-Ioadley, Sergeant at Arms and the two Student Councnl Representa tives Lena Weber and Mnke Wrllholt, were all offn cially ln office and led us ln our first class meetmg of the year Inrtlatlon was held a few weeks later The boys wore women's dresses, shoes, and egg whntes nn thenr hanr The glrls were dressed m mght gowns covered wlth burlap sackmg and ln men's shoes Thenr halr was done up m flfty beautlful rags and they wore no make up The Sophomores gave us a reception to end the long days torture A dmner followed wlth a dance afterwards The next soclal event was the Freshman Sock Student Body had a BLAST attendmg, too Dunng the school year Glenda McDonald and Bob Plsentl were added to our class After a three month vacation we came back as Sophomores Somethmg seemed wrong we were without some of our classmates' Louxs Lmdermyer Shirley Pryor, Betty Blanchard Ruthle Box Glenda McDonald, and Jnm Smxthen had all moved from Templeton As Sophomores our flrst and only class obligation was to gnve the Freshmen a reception At a class meeting with our new offlcers presldmg, 1M1ke Wlll holt, Presldent, Diana Remert, Vice President Lena Weber, Secretary Tex Cook Treasurer Gene Greer, Sergeant at Arms and Marlme Dyck and Ivan Scott as Student Councnl Representatnvesj we decided to give a dance on September 25 ln the audltorlum This was the first dance of the year and we had a terrxfnc turn out We cleaned the mess up the followmg Monday mornmg with a little persuasxon' The remainder of the term we sat back and en Joyed hfe by going to all games dances parties ln addltnon to studying When we came back to dear ol TUHS we were Juniors and Upperclassmen at last' Mrs Campbell was stnll our class advlser, but we had a new official staff Gene Greer was Presndent Jnm Shannon, Vice Presrdent Marlme Dyck Secretary Mnke Wnllhont, Treasurer Denms Venturlnr Sergeant at Arms Tex Cook and Eddne Gates Student Council Repre sentatn es The bug problem of raismg enough money for the Junior Semor Prom was at hand Through candy, cookie cake and magazine sales we rarsed enough money to have one of the best Junior Semor Proms ewer gnen ln the hlstory of TUHS It was held May 19 m the American Legion Hall wxth Bully Watson s orchestra proudmg the muslc The scene represented a mght club called the Blue Lagoon The soft blue hght gave a romantlc atmosphere to the hall It was too bad that Jerry Thorndyke Jam Bahr Lucy Cemceros Tommy Larsen Janet Long Tom 0Dell, Gordon Cheves, and Lena Weber were not there to enjoy It wnth us, but none of them came back to our school m the fall Each one had drifted away from Templeton at the end of his Sophomore year The year ended with the ever enjoyable Stu dent Body plcmc at Aula Beach and with the skat mg party later ln the evenlng at Pismo After a well earned summer vacatlon we came back for the fourth and fmal year at TLI-IS Thns year we had a new class advxser Mrs Armstrong came to us from San Luls Obispo to replace Mrs Campbell The class officers were Presndent Eddxe Gates Vlce President, Jrm Shannon Secretary, Diana Remert Treasurer Carol Klmtworth Ser geant at Arms Dan Baughman and our Student Councll Representatives, Mlke Willholt and Denms In order to go on the annual Semor snow trip and to partlclpate ln dutch day we felt we had to ralse some money In November we had another suc cessful magazme drlve to raise enough money to meet the necessary expenses of the year On December 19 we gave the annual Chrlstmas Formal the theme was Blue Fantasy Even though most of the Jumor Class members were barred from the dance, we had a ' BALL anyway The Semor snow trlp to Yosemite was a memor able occasxon March 1 to March 3 June 2 was the date of our Baccalaureate Servlces followed by graduation on June 6 Yes, there we fin our caps and gownsh were before everyone to recenve our dnplomas We sang the class song and then started up the alsle Whlle walkmg up that long alsle all sorts of thoughts went through our mmds some of us sxlently thanked our teachers and friends for being so kind and understandmg Some remnmsced through the years, and stall others dnd not have tnme to thmk we had made lt and that was all that mattered Yes that night ended our school days at TUHS and we wnll always remember them as happy Joy ous and excxtmg days, as well as educatnonal So wxth this message, the Senior Class members would luke to thank our
