Now you arc about to take your nghtful places as podintric physicians and surgeons. You have my nrx:crest congratulations In reflection, I sought the appropriate words to commemorate your accomplishments Predictably, they had already been written. These words were originally composed to congratulate others in far different circumstances but still have relevance to you. They were first addressed by General Scott to his troops at Chapultepec and subsequently repeated by General Patton to the soldiers of the Third Army and Nineteenth Tactical Air Force sinking for Bastogne and beyond: Brave rifles, veterans, you have been baptized in fire and blood and have come out steel. The sacrifices you have made to reach this milestone in your lives are not of the same character as those of the stalwart wamors of yesteryear However, the inner strength and drive needed to achieve all victories is much the same. Much has been asked of you these past four years and you have always risen to the occasion. Please grant me the indulgence of asking one thing more: Go forward and continue always to exemplify those qualities in yourselves that have caused we, the faculty, to take such justifiable pndc in each of you. I find myself at a loss for words of wisdom to impart to you as you make the transition from being my students to being my colleagues. However, 1 speak for the entire faculty in urging you to remember one thing: Relationships do not end simply because they change Always feel free to call upon us if we can be of assistance in the future and please keep us apprised of your accomplishments. Good luck in all that awaits you. May you live long and prosper Sincerely. Samuel) Spadone. D.P.M Assistant Dean for Educational Affairs UN-Dran'sl ,..., ,
