LeGrand Newman, M.Ed. In Memoriam The PCPM community suffered a great loss when LeGrand Newman, M.Ed., Associate Dean of Student Affairs, passed away last June at the age of 54. LeGrand received his baccalaureate degree in biology from Elizabeth City State College and a Masters degree in education from Temple University. LeGrand served the College for over twenty years. He was a dedicated and important member of the Student Affairs staff. In addition to being instrumental in minority student recruitment, he directed the STEP program which introduced junior college students to the field of podiatric medicine and the College. LeGrand also coordinated the SARP program for incoming first year students. He was a friend and counselor to all PCPM students and in particular a mentor for minority students. He was also active in many outside organizations such as the National Association of Medical Minority Educators. LeGrand was a trusted colleague and good friend for many years. His warmth and service to PCPM are greatly missed. —
