. 2005 Odontolog -1 !J are Four years ago we came together in North Phiily to embark upon a very long journey. We came from all corners of rhe earth with one thing on our minds, to become dentists. Here f IP e facts about us that arc quite esting. We started with 23 mar-ages. Now there arc 42 and 10 engagements. We started with 12 children and now have 25 (weYe definitely a productive class!) We could not be more diverse; before school wc were customs inspectors, submarine specialists, musicians. Universal Studios photographers, ballroom dancers, furniture designers, oil fielders, high school biology teachers, singers, models, spelunkers, web page design-ers, and bovine lacti-extracters (cow milkers). As you well know wc arc an extremely intriguing group of people who despite our different backgrounds have converged onto the same path. We did it, and we did it at one of the biggest and best schools in the country. We can now leave Temple with the gratitude and confidence knowing that the experience we have gained has strengthened us and will allow us to become much greater than we had ever dreamed. 2 •• Temple University School of Dentistry jptA yyyj t oj fiv owkdje', gvovvttv cwtft acJw v v +xt 2005 Odontolos — 3 May 19, 2005 To the Class of 2005: A year ago at this time we were still basking in the glow of our “perfect” accreditation. While the glow continues, my feet are now back on the ground and I am better able to objectively analyze the accreditation experience, and give credit where credit is due. It is my privilege, therefore, to say “thank you” to the Class of 2005 and the major role you played in making it happen. It is tempting to say that you students are as “perfect” as our school. I have said many times over the years that our students are our greatest asset, and I believe that now more than ever. Dr. Henry Cherrick. former Dean of the dental school at UCLA, served as our accreditation advisor. He particularly commented during the time he worked with us about the professional demeanor, the friendliness and the positive attitudes of our students; these remarks were echoed by the accreditation team. Similar comments about TUSoD students come from our applicants. You have put up with a lot over these four years, and you have come through, with very little attrition. Your NERB results were outstanding! I congratulate you as you achieve the preliminary goal of graduation and join you in looking forward to the greater goal of success in your chosen profession. I know you will make us proud. Again, thank you. Sincerely, 4 - Temple University School of Dentistry to 'V 'Jolm 1 1 The Class of 2005 would love nothing more than to dedicate the 2005 Odontolog to Dr. John Esposito, aka Espo. We all know that this man is the best. From the tap dancing and singing in clinic to his famous quote cheap is good, but free is better”; there is no one like Dr. Esposito. He lightened the load of an extremely heavy clinic, and that is tough to do. He has the respect and appreciation of his colleges, his students and everyone else who has ever crossed his path. Everyone can see the line outside of his office door Monday through Thursday and no one can deny what he teaches us about dentistry and life in general. It is rare to meet a man with such character and it will be absolutely impossible to forget such a great teacher. Dr. Esposito, here's to you, Cicntanni” from the Class of 2005. Dr. Esposito writes: I am deeply humbled and extremely grateful to the class of 2005 for this honor. The two most important things you can give your children arc roots then let them have wings. Hopefully you have been given the roots here at Temple. Now fly as high as your dreams will take you. And whatever you do, don't let anyone steal your dreams. Good luck in your future endeavors. John V. Esposito D.D.S. 2005 Odontolog - 5 6 - Temple University School of Dentistry SENIORS tvokt c ofies to oia , hecvitt Wc have spent a great deal of time together and have accomplished a number ot great teats over the last tour years. We established new clubs and organizations, created new jobs, reconditioned both the pre-clinic and the clinic, and we still managed to complete our requirements in the process. From the moment we walked through the door wc took control of our destinies. Now wc will never again have to wait for a faculty member to look at our preparations, go searching for signatures on our progress notes, wait in line at the cashier, wait tor insurance payments in order to get credit (now wc wait for cash), struggle to reserve a chair, or hear Fran singing Sinatra in the next cubical! Through thick and thin wc managed to accomplish these fears and now it is time to move on to the next level. Good luck to every single one of us. It has been one fantastic ride. Now, whenever the words “0-20 are mentioned we will all remember. We will remember things such as “San Diego, pronto... How about the rendition of “Bowling Down Buchner’s Door.” All of the good times at the best bar in Philly (and I’m not talking about the Bayou). Matthew's life has been a beacon to all who have been fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the stream of light he brings wherever he goes. Setting goals and achieving them has been his modus operandi since he was old enough to save up for his own Lego set and down comforter. Balance and growth has been his pattern of accomplishment as he set out to enjoy life as a husband, father, Dentist, member of his community, and follower of Christ. We, his family have enjoyed watching Matt, and we are excited to see what bright lights wait around the next corner as he begins his professional life. With love congratulations. Jared. From the moment you placed your first typed book order to the days your mother would pull you out of second grade to come home to fix the computer for her, to your Ragle Rank in Scouting and beyond, your focus on the goal at hand remained constant. Your faith in yourself at times required a boost. That happens to us all. You became a white water rafting guide on the Killer Kern, a ski patroller, a computer guru, a surfer, and now. a Doctor. In those efforts, you also became an excellent person whom we all appreciate more with each passing day. With each of your accomplishments came more confidence. For that, your family gives thanks to God for you. and for giving you the means to develop faith in your owm abilities. Those gifts also enhanced your know ledge that life had a niche for you. enabling you to find it.
