IN MEMORIAM JACOB M. WISAN, MS., D.D.S., F.A.C.D. Dr. Jacob M. Wisan. professor of Public Health, died October 4th at the age of 62. Dr. Wisan was dental health director of the Philadelphia Health Department since 1953, and held many positions in the public health field. He was director of the Division of Dental Health Education of the American Dental Association in 1948, chief of the Bureau of Dental Health of the New Jersey Department of Health, director of the Joseph Samuels Dental Clinic at Rhode Island Hospital, past president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children, and chief of dental services at Veterans Administrations hospitals in New York and Washington. Dr. Wisan received a master’s degree in public health at Columbia University and his dental degree at New York University. He was author of many articles in dental literature and was co-editor of a standard textbook. “Dentistry in Public Health.” Dr. Wisan's death is mourned by his friends and acquaintances of the faculty and student body.
