zA Message From Dean zAddie TO THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 1!)42: I N RESPONSE to your request that I give to you a few parting words of advice and encour-agenient upon the occasion of your launching into the stream of professional activity after six long years of preparation, I must frankly admit that at this moment, I hardly know how or where to begin. So much can be said at a time like this, especially when so much has to be done in a world of turmoil and distress. We have passed through some strenuous times together these past few years and while you may look upon the future with a great deal of anxiety because of the war, comfort yourself with the realization that you are well equipped and prepared in professional training and can take your place among the ranks of those who are so nobly contributing specialized skill toward alleviating ills and injuries resulting from a noble service to one’s country. No one can predict with certainty, the events of the future, “but win the war we will. Such victory, however, will entail many hardships and much suffering for both combatants and non-combatants alike, yet for those who have been trained to minister to the wounded and aid the sick are distinctly privileged. Yours is a heritage, incomparable to any other especially at times like these, and 1 envy you your opportunity for service. Your professional career is just beginning as are also your selective studies and development. Up until now, you have been chiefly concerned with fundamentals and professional background. Today you start in to acquire by continuous study and practice, that skill and knowledge that will mark you as a qualified authority in your chosen field. 1 bid you one and all God’s speed together with health, wealth and happiness. Wherever you may roam, remember your Alma Mater and let her hear from you occasionally. C. B. A. 19
