I TEMPODIAA PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS TEMPLE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF CHIROPODY, PHILADELPHIA Robert L. Johnson Charles E. Krausz. D.S.C. 2 THE ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY You are being graduated in a period when national prosperity is at a high level. More good things are to be had by more people. That is the time when the public lifts the level of its demands on those who serve it. It asks for the best in skill and wisdom, especially from those who minister to its physical well-being. Health is necessary to the proper use and enjoyment of most of life’s bounties. ou are likely, therefore, when you are established, to be busy and useful, and these are two of the surest ingredients of happiness. I congratulate you on that prospect. Let me add to my hopes and good wishes for you one word of counsel. You have received from Temple University the training that qualifies you to practice your profession. This does not mean your professional education is completed. It will never be. The horizons of knowledge are always enlarging and moving out. Not only must you move with them, but I hope that within a few years you will be making contributions from your own experience and study that will help to expand them further. That's the way every professional man pays back the indebtedness he owes to those who have gone before. Robert L. Johnson President, Temple iniversity It is with a great deal of pleasure that I am able to congratulate your class on the successful manner in which you completed your course at Temple University. Your graduation coincides with the 60lh Anniversary of the founding of the New York Pedic Society. This is the oldest chiropodical body in the world. Through the efforts of this group, the first chiropody law was passed by the New York State Legislature in 1895. The development of modern chiropody began with this event. In the space of sixty years we now-find that all of the forty-eight states, the District of Columbia, and Hawaii, have passed adequate laws to regulate the practice of our profession. Perfection is seldom achieved in a single season. Additional problems will face our group in the years ahead. Recognition by the army and inclusion in the various public health projects are barriers which must be surmounted in the near future. As potential members of the State and National Association of Chiropodists you will have an important part to play in the receiving of these situations. A number of you will serve in some branch of the armed forces immediately upon graduation so that the private practice of chiropody must be postponed until better times. Wherever you may go, be assured that the entire faculty joins me in wishing you health, success and happiness in your future endeavors. Charles E. Krausz, D.S.C. Dean Dr. C. My personal gratitude for the assistance I received from my co-editor is the least I can say for her untiring efforts. It thrills me to look back and see what the efforts of this group as a body have reaped. Another word of thanks for being able to work with and for my classmates before we go our individual ways. In this parting my every wish for your success in your future endeavors. Leon Szymanowicz Art editors Earl Cherniak and S. Delineations. Scribe 3, President 4: Honorary Bacteriology Society; Honorary Chiropodial Surgical Society; Honorary Anatomical Society; Charter Member of Circle K Club: Military Association of Chiropodists; Class President 1, 2, 3, 4; Student Council President 4. STAN1.FA A. BELOFF PRESIDENTS MESSACE It is difficult after four years to express ones humble appreciation for being given the opportunity to serve as President of this class. These have been fruitful years, with situations and associations binding us together as a unit which shall not cease to exist after graduation. As our class relationship draws to a close, may we continue to strive with the same enthusiasm for the benefit of chiropody and Temple University. Our current hopes are for the rapid and successful culmination of the Building Fund Drive. Our future hopes are for cooperation in a common goal, the progressive advancement of chiropody. “That wise man knows nothing, who cannot profit himself by his wisdom, for wisdom is not only to be acquired, but to be utilized.” Cicero With these final words, good luck to my classmates, remembering that good luck is merely the crossroad where education and opportunity meet.
