TEMPLE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF CHIROPODY PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA DAVID M. LEVIN Editor in Chiei JOSEPH B. ADDANTE Assistant Editor LEON E. KEHR Business Manager RICHARD C. TRAGANZA Assistant business manager LEONARD HARRIS Photographic Editor CECIL K. SEAWARDS Art Editor May I take this opportunity to reminisce for a lew moments on the past four years; to think ol the trials and tribulations, of the sincere and honest cooperation of you as a class and as individuals, and to express my sincere appreciation for the privilege of serving as your class advisor and friend. With this—the last message to you as a group, on the eve of your graduation, allow me to quote— ‘Knowledge is proud that he has known so much. Wisdom is humble that he knows no more. Erasmus Darwin. The Task Knowledge, defined as the acquisition of facts, learning, known or knowable things, may be looked upon as being the Science of Chiropody. Wisdom, the judicious application of facts or knowable things, may be considered to be the Art of Chiropody. With these two things, the Science of Chiropody, in which I am sure you have been well versed, and the Art of Chiropody, when deftly applied, will greatly assure you of success and happiness in your chosen profession. However, should you become too mechanical in the application of the Science of Chiropody, forgetting the Art of Chiropody, forgetting to be kind and humble, forgetting to be sincere and diligent in your work, 1 feel that the degree of your success will be quite limited. My personal wish to each one of you is the best that life and Chiropody may offer. We CC C 0 0 0 2 Frank N. R. Bossle, D.S.C., Ph.G. Class Advisor idminoitnatim. 3 tdmitt Graduates of Temple University's School of Chiropody have moved into positions of leadership in their profession in so many parts of the country that I am sure the Class of 1953 will follow the established pattern. That pattern is the result of careful selection of students, of unexcelled educational standards, and of a firm grounding in professional ideals. Like other practitioners of the healing arts, you will be procreators of health, happiness, and efficiency in your community. Your awareness of that and the public recognition of it will provide the greatest satisfaction that any career can give. Robert L. Johnson President, Temple University 4 C foatuM, Your diploma is not an ’“open sesame” to success; nor do the commencement ceremonies insure ultimate achievement. Rather, do they mark the transition of the student to a wide field of study and research. The period of training you have just finished is but the beginning of your professional education. You have been given merely the basis upon which to build your practice; the rest is in your hands. Each day will bring its new problems which must be solved. In order to meet these problems competently, we must advance; we must constantly read and study new scientific developments. This is a great age for research and experiment, and, it is my earnest hope that you will endeavor to keep abreast of the times in your professional work The profession of Chiropody offers many opportunities for leadership, but these come only to those who pursue their explorations in the field of knowledge far beyond Commencement Day May I take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you happiness and success in your future life. I would like to express my gratitude especially to all our past vice-presidents, treasurers, to our secretary, and our student council representative. I extend my heartiest congratulations and sincerest wish for the future success of each and every member of our class. I will always be proud to have been a member of the Class of '53; and the memory of being your class president during our stay at Temple University will always be one of my most cherished possessions. In closing I would like to express the gratitude of the entire class to the editor and staff for their hard work in making this beautiful yearbook possible. . Louis P. This society has the distinction of being the oldest honorary society of the Chiropody School. Meetings of the society are h ld once a month for the purpose of considering pertinent business relating to the society. At each meeting a full member of the society presents a paper pertaining to some phase of anatomy. Membership is limited to those who have distinguished themselves not only in anatomy but all other subjects as well. Levin, Editor in Chief L. Kehr. Business Manager Joseph Addante, With this, the 1953 Tempodian, the Editor and his Staff have tried to present a pictorial review of our past four years at Temple University School of Chiropody. The copy has been cut to a minimum for just this reason; as pictures are worth much more than words, so too do they speak louder. With the turn of a page, and a glance at a picture, your classmates are forever with you. The familiar halls of Chiropody School, with its classrooms, it’s clinics, and it's faculty are only as far away as your Tempodian It is with extreme pride and a great sense of achievement that the Staff presents this volume to the class of 1953. If, in the years to come, you open this book just once and smile while recalling some pleasant memories, then our work has not been in vain—then we have accomplished our objective.
