lecy It is now September 1970, and I ' m thinking of my old school friends and of the fun we had in high school. Naturally, I hadn ' t been able to keep up with all my classmates, so I decided to look them up on my atomoscope, Willard Kiser ' s newest invention. Harry Bratton, of course, is the most famous person who was in our graduating class, since he is the President of the United States. His private secretaries are Ellen Gray, Peggy Gose and Dorothy Ring, and he has appointed Gerald Herndon Secretary of State and Paul Burton Secre- tary of Labor. Jean Burke has been appointed the first woman to serve as a Supreme Court judge. Ralph Musick is ambassador to Atlantis and Jimmie Bostic is a consul in Venezuela where he is involved in the latest revolution. Dorothy Gibson is head of a charm school in Los Angeles, and Frances Johnson, after taking one of her courses, has become a model in the Harry Dickenson Model- ing Agency. Randall Sargent is now a millionaire. He made his fortune by manufacturing a new type of bubble gum called Blow-Easy . Johnny Kiser has also made a great fortune. He is in the fur business. Mildred Salyer is president of the largest dairy busi- ness in this country, the Tri-State Dairy Co-operative. Hazel Huff is married, of course, but she is also the editor of Senorita , the new fashion magazine. Jess Osborne owns a circus, the second largest in the world. Stafford is the tight-rope artist, and Olaf has re- cently been hired as a lion tamer. Thelma Castle has just gotten a big raise and a pro- motion to society editor of the New York Times. Bob Harding and Billy Honaker are members of a large orchestra. Bob is the drummer and Billy plays the clarinet. Betty Jean has been awarded the Corot Memorial Prize for the best nature painting of the year. She called the painting Grass. Katherine Kiser and Betty Ann are married to con- gressmen, and are going around helping them in their election campaigns. Robert Griffith has grown a mustache and become quite dignified as the president of Harvard College. Darius King has settled in Richmond with the beautiful Australian girl he married on his trip around the world. Margaret King is married and has a home in Nashville, six children and three dogs. She seems very happy. Donald and Joe are making the army their career. They are a couple of contented Colonels. Hope seems to be sitting around twiddling her thumbs, waiting for that army guy and trying to forget her last romance. Joe Hawkins owns the Hawkins Aircraft Company of Detroit. His company puts out a new type of rocket plane which reaches a speed never before accomplished. Bill Robinson is in Hollywood with the leading roll in the new movie, The End of the Beginning . His movie name is Rory Brandt. Helen Hol brook and Helen Smith are running an in- terior decorating business in Seattle called Helen ' s In- teriors , and Louise is living there in Seattle, writing a new book on basketball. Margaret Pickett is planning to leave her home in Little Rock soon. She is taking her daughter to Hollywood because she looks like Shirley Temple used to look. Bob Branson is now quite a successful author, having just published his third book. Jerline Caudill is an author, too. She writes modern poetry. Frances Wohiford, who married the year after her graduation, is head of a travel bureau, besides running her family. Kathryn Davis has taken over the old Joan Davis pro- gram and is heard every Thursday night. Dorothy Willis is living in Paris, using the French she worked so hard to learn. Zelma is also in France. She is a very high-priced dress designer. John Osborne owns a chain of hotels with one in each of the large cities of the world. He spends his summers in his hotel in Switzerland and his winters in the one in Los Angeles. Patsy Gibson and Virginia Bolton own a publishing business in Chicago. Virginia, of course, makes it a point to read all the books. Jewel Robinson has recently wed Henry Ford IV and is the first society leader in her city to wear 1970 ' s New Look. Marvis White owns a dude ranch out West, and every year some of his old friends go out to spend their vacation with him. Kathy Counts is Martin Sinatra ' s manager. Martin is Frank ' s son, and he ' s a crooner, too — but not as popular as his Dad was. Gaines Skeens is an Atomic engineer, at present trying to find the cause of the explosion which destroyed Maine. My atomoscope has been growing weaker and weaker. I ' ve been almost afraid to look up everyone, but I ' m through and thank heavens the thing waited until now to blow up.
