FOREWORD EDUCATION! This is the bold cry across the lands and over the oceans. Never since the golden age of the Renaissance has modem man, crushed by the weight of prejudices, hatreds, false 'isms and his own ignorance in the ever-widening frontiers of his world, wanted so much to know, to grow, and to be educated. Some of us have finished the first important step in this great quest for learning; some are only at the begin- ning. Within this book, the STAFF has tried to hold in store your days of this quest, to make for you - — YOUR TREASURE CHEST Within this book, a treasure chest we've made. But not for gems and gold. But filled with things more rare and fine, As full as it will hold. Into it we placed pictures of your deeds. Of friends whom you hold dear, Of the classes, the teachers, the happy hours, That filled your life with cheer. DEDICATION We live in a treasured land often called the cradle of democracy, yet the times of our generation seem to be filled with stress, with strain, and with the strife that often accompanies progress. It is a time of protest, of rebellion against authority, of a falling away from the traditions that made this a treasured land. Yet a back- ward glance reveals our day to be one in which great strides have been made in realizing the importance of education, in conquering space, and in understanding our universe. The time of the sheltered days of student life is passing for us and we must enter a world in which passive submission is a thing of the past. One must stand up and be counted for or against something. On this page we wish to make it known that we truly appreciate and firmly believe we have had for us TREASURES in store in the form of our PARENTS. SO WE HEREBY DEDICATE THIS BOOK TO OUR PARENTS: We pause near the end of our high school days--------And clasp the treasured hand which has guided us thus far------We lift our hearts and voices in a song of praise---------------To honor you, our parents, for love, for faith, for principles—Imbued in us from birth, for all that builds us—gifts from you-------- Oh!
