Boys' and Girls' State Girls' State Representative The purpose of Boys' and Girls' State is to give high school students an opportunity to observe our government in action, thereby expanding their knowledge through actual experiences. These include making speeches and conducting their own campaigns and elections. This year, two well qualified seniors, Marlyce Myers and Andy Roundtree, were chosen to represent Temple City High School during the summer. Sally Routery and Aurelio Molina were selected as their alternates. Andy spent seven days at the Sacramento Fair Grounds after the close of school in June. Marlyce spent her week of June 27 through July 5 at Squaw Valley. Both Andy and Marlyce became acquainted with work of State officials and also gained a broader understanding of governmental actions.
