The Social Science Department has one of the most difficult tasks on campus, this being to keep up with all that is happening today. The curriculum is constantly ex- panded to accommodate all events that are taking place plus all that is being learned of the past. The newest course in this de- partment is Humanities. This class explores philosophies and cul- tures of other countries, helping students to better understand foreign peoples. Senior Problems covers na- tional and local government and world problems and politics. Juniors study the history of the United States to gain a better understanding of its heritage. Team teaching is one of the more modern aspects of instruc- tion on campus. Most Sopho- mores take social studies under this plan. The course covers a brief history of the present day situation in the communist coun- tries, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Freshmen undertake three useful courses in one class. These are World History, First Aid, and Drivers Education. World History broadens understanding of en- mities between people. First Aid may help save someone's life. Driver's Education hopefully makes better drivers. SO DOES THE SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT A053 IR' .nf ,ffm J.
