Homecoming Royalty attend a 5th quarter dance. Fifth Quarter Dances Swing Fifth Quarter Dances are held after most home football and basketball Students practice new Steps' games. They are sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association, which hires a live band for each dance. Dean Johnson, Cheryl Black, Wayne Miller and Sue Shillander participate in the San Marino pep rally. The Rams enioyed many entertaining pep rallies this year. Directed by and starring Rita Montrose and her Pep Commission, the pep rallies were held the afternoon of the games as often as possible. In the Pep Commission's campaign against the South Pasadena Tigers, tickets were sold at lOc for a chance to llSmash the Tiger , an old car painted orange and black. The rally preceding the San Marino game presented our opponents llAttractive Homecoming Royalty, dressed in the latest fashion. The most memorable rally was our own Homecoming Coronation of Gayle Whitely. Class competition yells were the most popular of all and usually resulted in a disputed tie between the upper classmen.

Her court included Senior Princess Lani Pedrini, Junior Princess Terry Coward, Sophomore Princess Brenda Ruiz, and Freshman Princess Sue Nicassio. The dance, enti- tled USleigh Bells Ringing , was held in Beckner Gym on December 18. The Christmas Dance is sponsored annu- ally bythe Girls' and Boys' Leagues. ,.., y i ,.,. .i .
