G.A.A. With the adoption of a new constitution, G.A.A. met twice a week and provided girls with an hour of refreshing, competitivesfun. Throughout the year, many active girls attended Sports Days at nearby schools. They played tournaments in volley- ball, basketball, and softball. A co-educational bowling league was also started during second quarter. A skating party, a slumber party in the gym, and bicycle riding were also included in the activities held during the year. X Happiness Is Pep This year's Pep Commission was one of the most active groups on campus. Led by enthusiastic and spirited Pep Commissioner, Rita Montrose, many new and unusual tradi- tions were started. The aim of the Pep Commission is to give support to all the athletic teams supporting Temple City High School. Football season began with a surprise dinner that all the players knew about, a breakfast, and singing telegrams. Songs made popular by Rita and the Pepsters were: Varsity Guys and High Hopes. Signs were delivered to each player's house at six in the morning by sleepy-eyed Pep Commission girls. All of the players were surprised, when coming home after a dinner at Coach Hitchcock's, to find their bedrooms completely decorated with signs, suckers, pillows, and crepe paper. Signs dominated the appearance of school every Friday throughout all the sports. Pep rallies, held every Friday morning, promoted more spirit. Pep assemblies were few and far between but the spirit never died. With gifts of mums, orchids, and cough drops from the Varsity Football Team, all of the girls on Pep found out how much the time, effort, and money they spent on the players had been appreciated. fi
