SCHOOL BOARD The official governing board of the Tell City Schools is composed of (standing, left to right) Victor Kress, president, Jim Roos, secretary, and Carl Dalrymple, treasurer. Seated, superintendent Grady Swadley. A THUMB-NAIL HISTORY OF TELL CITY SCHOOLS This year's graduating class brings to 3,711 the total number of graduates for Tell City High School. The first class to get diplomas was the 1905 class--with 3 members. Mr. Swadley is the eighth superintendent to serve during the 62 year period. Previous superintendents have been Chris Newman, Charles Hanner, J. S. Turner, Glen Traw, N. Dixon, Fred Fechtman, and Glen Bretz. The entire high school faculty for the first few years was made up of two teachers--the high school principal, and the city superintendent. Until 1909, the Old North Building, standing where Newman Building does now, housed the high school. From 1909 till 1928, the present Franklin building served that purpose. The 12th Street location has served since 1928, with additions in 1951 and 1963. 15
