Homecoming A Memorable Event The class of ‘'79” sponsored this year’s Homecoming to make it a very memorable event. Homecoming will live on in the hearts of many for years to come, especially for King Bryan Lindquist and Queen Ruth Nagel. They were chosen by the student body and the final selection was announced at a special assembly on October 7. During the hectic events of Homecoming week, the king and queen reigned and were well recognized. Some of the events this year were a snake dance through the town ending at the school with a bonfire. There, the king and queen won a jello-eat-ing contest with stiff competition from the other members of the court. On the long-awaited Homecoming day, there was the traditional pep rally to raise the spirit of the football players and the stu dent body. There was also competition between classes to see who could cheer the loudest and win the red and white spirit jug which was won by the junior class. Following the pep rally, was the annual parade. After the parade, the senior girls came back to show the junior girls who was boss in a powder-puff football game, but the juniors didn’t give them an easy battle. The seniors had to fight hard to get the winning touchdown to defeat the juniors with a final score of 6 to 0. The spirit was really high as the students entered the gymnasium for the Homecoming dance because the boys had surprised the Waldron Spartans beating them 24 to 14. It was the first Homecoming victory in over 10 years. It was probably the most welcomed victory of the season and it will be remembered for a long, long time. 12 (Above) Julie Randall struggles for a touchdown for the |unior girls (Above Right) An exciting moment during the game for the players, and the crowd (Right).
