FINEARTS German Classes Visit E.M. U. The Fine Arts Department for the 1975-76 school year includes an all-school choir, and two bands. These bands are the junior high and senior high bands, each being directed by Mr. Kevin McMullin. Mr. McMullin also teaches a German I class, and to help carry his class to its full extent, is Mr. Rick Beck, a junior at Olivet College, who also teaches German I and II. When the two of them got together, they came up with the idea of going to a Language Arts day at Eastern Michigan University in March. THS students put on a puppet show, as well as other schools putting on various skits. Mrs. Gladys Pileri has had a very full year with her junior and senior high art classes. She has been keeping them busy, along with having them make the decorations for the Cabaret, and putting up the Christmas decorations in the halls at school. (Above) In a candid art class shot. BUSINESS AM JOURNAUSM Preparing for the Business World The Business Department, under the direction of Mrs. Sally Hammond, offers a variety of courses to prepare students for the business world. The classes include beginning typing, advanced typing and office machines, accounting I, and junior high general business. Other business classes at THS are business law, taught by Mr. James Messacar, and business math, taught by Miss Coleen Wendel. Not only are the business classes working on building their skills during the year, but they also take field trips to get a glimpse of the many types of jobs and places of employment for people with skills in the business field. The Business Department once again chose an outstanding senior business student. This year, Kathy Waffle was chosen for her outstanding achievement in the business area. She was honored in April along with other area business students at a dinner given by the Administrative Management Society. The journalism class, also taught by Mrs. Sally Hammond, produces the THS INDIAN yearbook, and a weekly page in THE TEKONSHA IDEA. Not only do the students leam the fundamentals of news style writing, but they also learn yearbook layout, and design, photography, business management, and selling of advertisements for the yearbook. Beth Burchfield returned for her second year and served as editor of the yearbook. Mary Krall returned for her third year and served as head student photographer. In the fall, the class attended a workshop at Kalamazoo College to help them prepare for the task of producing the yearbook. They also went to Petrosoff’s Printing, in Coldwater to see how THE TEKONSHA IDEA is printed with the offset printing process.
