Football The Tekonsha Indians of 49 Won two football games while losing six. With ten lettermen back, the team showed a great improvement over last year in fundamentals and all around playing. The Indians dropped their first three games, with Starr handing out the first loss 38-17. This was the first game played on the new lighted field, and the first night football game to be played in Tekonsha. Burr Oak and Schoolcraft then handed the team its second and third losses by margins of 33-6 and SZ-3.2. This last defeat, which showed the team they they could score, seemed to spark them and they rolled over Climax Z6-6. The next game was the Homecoming Game with Mendon, which the Indians dropped 39-14. Centerville dropped the team 43-Z6 before they -could get another win. This came at Starr, where the team didn't have a chance before the game, but won by a margin of Z5-16. This was the best game of the season by far, with the opponets being almost entirely unable to stop the Indians. Marcellus then furnished the opposition for the final game and won Z4-13. Tekonsha led in the final minutes of the game, but the visitors rallyed and scored two touchdowns on a 10113 P2155 and a fumble. The Indians ran up a total of 157 points and 1469 yards while their opponents were making 251 points and 1833 yards. Basketball As this book goes to press the basketball season is not yet complete. The games to date are as follows: The Tekonsha Indians started the season off with a 55- 27 win over Montgomery. Two more wins followed in rapid succession with Climax falling 31-27 and Mendon 49-34 in league games. The Indians then fell off as they lost to Jones- ville 44-28 and Camden 48-29 in a midwinter Christmas tour- nament at Hillsdale. An Alu.mni team defeated the Indians 35-25. The team then lost its first conference game to Burr Oak 71-49, but won its third by defeating Mendon 27-22. The Indians bogged down again and were beaten by Concord 34-32 and by Saint Charles of Coldwater 41-33. The fourth conference win was chalked up with a 59-48 win over Clinfiax. This win assured Tekonsha second place in the Southwestern Michigan Class D. Conference. Burr Oak won the final con- ference game 53-35 and thus took the championship. Determined to get back in the win column, the Indians went to Saint Charles and dropped them 44-34. This broke a four game winning streak of the Saints.
