THE TOMAHAWK. I933 YYYY The Tehachapi Squad Tehachapi squad is forming They really think they're it, Coach Offerman is storming And almost has a fit. The captain's brow is furrowed, With lines of anxious care, As he cast his eagle eye On Garcia's shining hair. Joe calls his boys together, And puts each on the spot, Ancl says, We're bucking Barstow, Boy, they think they're hot. He says, Go ancl get 'em, Let's make the rebels howl, The referee is for us, H e'll never see a foul. So bite 'em, kick 'em, slug 'em, Punch 'em in the eye, The game must go to us, boys, So let us do or clie. They saicl by Coach Ojferman's moustache We'll take them for a ride, Barstow made one ,feeble effort And then laid down and died. ' ...gv -CLARENCE FULTON

THE TDMAHAWK, l933 Foofball TEHACHAPI High's football season opened with several of last year's veterans on deck. Although Coach Offerman was considerably handi- capped because of lack of new material, the season was quite successful. Tehachapi C03 vs. Lancaster C203 Tehachapi High opened the season on September 20 at Lancaster, playing the fast Lancaster High team. Our boys put up a good fight but Lancaster proved too heavy. Tehachapi C03 vs. Shafter C313 September 24 Tehachapi met the powerful Shafter team. Their heavy line and many end runs caused us to lose the game. Tehachapi C73 vs. Barstow C03 September 28, Barstow arrived in Tehachapi. The teams battled on a muddy field which resembled a duck pond, and after much slipping and sliding the game was finally called in the third quarter. Jose Narez made the first touchdown of the season, giving us our first vistory to tuck away. ' Tehachapi C63 vs. Maricopa C63 On October 8, the Tehachapi High Student Body saw their team hold the heavy Maricopa eleven to a tie. Theodore Kennedy played a wonderful brand of football, making our touchdown. Jose Narcz's punting was exceptionally good, also. Tehachapi C03 vs. Victorville C193 On October 15, Victorville with her heavy 170-pound line defeated us by a score of 19-0. Tehachapi C143 vs. Barstow C03 In a return game with Barstow at Barstow, on October 19, Tehachapi again showed its superiority over the Barstow eleven and again brought home the bacon. Joe Errea and Jose Narez were the individual stars. Jose made the first touchdown and Hicks converted for the extra point. Barstow twice threatened Tehachapi's goal line in the second half but failed under Tehachapi's strong defense. Joe Errea intercepted a pass and ran 32 yards to a touchdown in the last three minutes of play. This was one of the strongest games the local eleven played, perfect football being the feature through- out the game. Tehachapi C73 vs. Taft C63 With a great reputation Taft High received quite a shaking up on October 22, when they bucked up against Tehachapi. It was our first night game, played before a crowd of 3,000. Walter Hicks made our touchdown and the conversion gave us a victory. Tehachapi C133 vs. Tehachapi All Stars C03 On October 30 our team went into action against the local town eleven. With our light and fast team we put over two touchdowns and one conversion to chalk up an- other victory. Tehachapi C63 vs. Lancaster C253 On November 2 in a return game with Lancaster our team gave them a little more to think about. The score is no indication of our boys' efforts. Lancaster made two touchdowns in the first half, but in the third quarter Hicks ran around end for a touch- down. However, Lancaster with her many substitutes was able to make two more touchdowns. Tehachapi C03 vs. Maricopa C203 On November 4 the elevens from Tehachapi and Maricopa met at Maricopa. A good battle ensued but again we were overpowered by excess weight. Tehachapi C73 vs. Victorville C273 Although the scores of some of the games did not seem to indicate success, the general concensus of opinion is that the season was quite a success. Our last league game was with Victorville. Victorville put over four touchdowns and Hicks put over one touchdown to give us our score in the game. Tehachapi C403 vs. Tehachapi All Stars C03 The last battle of the season, on December 4, saw Tehachapi's old pep and fire re- turning. The Indians ran wild, turning the game into a track meet. It was hard to pick an individual star, as the whole team turned in a fine game to end the season. FORTY-SEVEN
