SEPTEMBER saw the beginning of the Girls' League functions. Oppor- tunities for the girls to participate in the activities of the League are many and varied. A hiking club was organized and much interest shown in its activities. The girls also have worked out a point system by which they earn their letters. Five hundred points are necessary to receive a letter. Each girl who makes 100 additional points receives a star. One of the annual events of the year is the play day in which four schools participate. The schools participating are Lancaster, Barstow, Victorville and Tehachapi. The girls of the four schools are divided into two teams, and the spirit of co-operation prevails during the playing of the games. This annual play day does much to foster the feeling of good will among the students of the four schools. During the football season the T Society promoted the rallies before every home game of the season. This society encourages the right kind of school spirit in all school activities, especially athletics. Inter-class competition in all sports is carried out under the approval and direction of this group. To become a member of this honor society, one must display athletic ability in some sport which the high school recognizes. The T Society has added four new members, Francis Wilson, Roy Edwards, Edmond Iriart and Pete Olive who have played the time required for earning a football etter. The membership of the Club now consists of the following: Jose Narez, Ernest Capdeville, George Bronson, William Dean, Gordon Fraser, Joe Errea, Lyle Jacobs, Stephen Valdez, Francis Wilson, Edmond Iriart, Pete Olive and Roy Edwards. There are two sections of the club with different officers for each section. This is necessary as the club meets during school time so the second and third year meetings are held separately. The object of the club is to further the student's interest in Spanish through activities of different types. These activities include Spanish plays, games, stories and jokes. The meetings of the Spanish clubs are characterized by the absence of English. All officers conduct the meetings in Spanish and a fine is imposed upon any member who speaks English during club meetings. The third year Spanish club group enjoyed an enchilada party in February, and all the mountaineers and teachers reported a very enjoy- able time. lnlnlxltltlxnxpslnlnlnln may xxqxnnglpunmxnxlnpunnmxlnpnilgpnlxlnnnnlanmnlxlmlnlllxpmnnlnpl TWENTY-EIGHT
