HERE THE GRADUATE COMES In 1953, the Tefft eighth grade class entered the freshman class of Kankakee Township School after being bolstered by an equal number from the surrounding areas. The boys and girls began at once to feel the thrill of attending high school. To help launch the careers of the fifty-sevens'; William Dobson was elected class President for the year, with Glen Salyer, Vice President: and Delos Stalbaum, Secretary-Treasurer. Most of the members of the class advanced to the sophomore rank at the beginning of the next fall. Standard-bearers for the class were Lyla Krug, Donna Robbins, and Jo-Ann Smith. Hard work and study were now the order of the day as they settled down to being sophisticated sophomores. As the junior year rolled around, we lost only one from our ranks. The comparatively large junior class of this year put a great deal of work into money-making projects to give the seniors their annual reception. The reception was given in the gym this year and the novel decorations added to the beauty of the affair. Much of the success of the junior year was due to the efforts of President Norman Duggleby and other class officers, Delos Stalbaum and Jo-Ann Smith. And now, 1957! Senior$--and graduation in sight. Each senior has his day filled with the sadness, gaiety, and thrill of being a senior. Some of the activities include having senior pictures taken, ordering caps and gowns, working on the yearbook, selecting senior cards and invitations, and planning Senior Week. The capable leadership of this decisive year includes President, Edward Deardorff and other class officers, Delos Stalbaum, Lyla Krug and Jo-Ann Smith. It is our belief that the members of the class of 1957 will become better citizens because of the teachings they received here. It is with a sadness in our hearts, a hope in our future, a sincere thank you to our teachers, and the best wishes to our fellow students that this year's harvest of graduates, the class of 1957, closes this chapter of history of the Kankakee Township School and moves on to join the ranks of alumni who have gone before us.
